So happy I DVR the game last I got to fast forward the third period and the end the end of the second.

Ok so I guess the Cappy firing watch is in full effect now. Boston next tough game then Dallas. I don't know this could be the beginning of the end for our beloved coach.

I think we can regularly expect to hear how the system isnt flawed- it's the players that didnt execute. Cappy finally figured how to blame shift everything. Like a football playbook is filled with perfect plays. Each one a formula for a touchdown- IF all the "O's" block all the "X's" as diagramed. This guy knows sh!t about coaching beyond that. I find it also strange how you rarely see Cappy speaking on the bench. He's almost always looking at his notes(for a meatball recipe) or staring off into the distance. Guy has no clue what to do. Hey Garth - you watching?

Islanders' Boychuk: Signing an in-season contract extension 'not out of the question'

One way or another, Johnny Boychuk is going to get paid. The question is whether he'll sign a contract extension with the New York Islanders, or hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Given the right offer, Boychuk says he could very well choose the former, putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Islanders sometime over the course of the regular season.

“Definitely,” Boychuk said of seeing himself foregoing free agency and re-signing with the Islanders, according to D.J. Bean of WEEI.

“Our team is going to be unbelievable for quite some time - probably the next five years is going to be an awesome time for this team. It’s not out of the question.”

Boychuk's tenure on Long Island has gotten off to a brilliant start, as he has tallied two goals, four assists and 16 shots in 16 games. His five power-play points this season match the total accrued over the course of his previous 321 career games, further demonstrating his value to the club.

Likely to command upward of $6 million on the open market, it appears Boychuk will remain with the Islanders, if the price is right.

Sh!tting the bed was bound to happen. I don't think last night was an indication of anything negative for the season. Six games in, they have more wins than losses.

You're never as great as you think you are, after a win, and you are never as bad, as you think you are, after a loss.

The Isles will be fine; still too early to panic after a tough game.

Maybe too early to panic but, the leafs are a team they should have beaten (one line team). They should have rebounded with a better effort after playing a bad game against pitts. There hasn't been any chemistry on any line and PK, PP looking awful in the last 2 games. They can't let this go on until it's in panic mode because it might be too late. This team is fragile even with the new additions. I realize you can't win every game but, there's many red flags that are concerning me.

Odd #Isles line shuffle: Boulton with Nelson and Strome. (For real.) Clutterbuck/McDonald switching as 4th-line RW. Hickey with face guard.

See this is the misconception from a lot of people. Its not panic or getting ready to leap off the cliff. The issue I have and I believe most of the people who are posting here today have is the same issues are a constant recurring theme from season to season since capuano has become coach. The same old story with the same old excuses. Same old penalty kill with the same old new england accents. Its not working.

Now they have to win a game they're not supposed to, maybe Thursday night in Boston?

You have to be kidding me.

This jackoff has to go. (frank)ing Brock Nelson starts off on fire, and this is the way you rewards him? Strome's been strong lately...play him with Boulton. Colin McDonald sucks...bump him up a line! It's like a bad joke.

A friend of mine joked about this being a possibility last night. Funny how jokes become reality with coaching decisions on the new york islanders. Cant make this shat up.

Yeah, thus far the goalie has also been underwhelming. Stays way too far back in his crease, like Nilsson, which is why he has to try (unsuccessfully, so far) to use his blocker like a baseball bat.
- dcb1

disagree...i say the defense has been underwhelming from a defensive point of view. offensively, the defense has been fantastic!!

halak was terrible yesterday
cappy still has to go
bailey looked pretty good (as did strome)
i love what clutterbuck brings to the team, it just shouldnt be in a top 6 role
conacher can take a spot on the 4th line, waive CMc, bring up lee.

Why all this shuffling of lines...what the hell??? Grabo goes down and Cappy messes up 3 friggin lines in the process....Leave line 1, 3 and 4 alone and replace Grabo on 2nd line....don't mess up early chemistry of the other lines...Snow did so well but didn't get rid of this amateur coach....we all knew after the 3rd goal Halak was off, he never changes goalies on time and his decisions in line up are gradually going back to last seasons line...

Disregard my previous comments about the players being at fault just as much as the coach.

Halak wasnt his best but toronto was given way too much room in front of him and open lanes to him. The rest I agree with. Im hoping snow doesnt think these personnel moves are even slightly coherent? If he does we are in for a helluva season with this jackass behind the bench.

But...but we didn't want to bring up Lee at the expense of Strait.

I think your coach is an idiot but your players are equally at fault whenever you have a terrible performance. Its as if you guys seems to think that your players are so perfect and excused from blame that hiring a coach like Babcock would guarantee an 82-0 campaign and a Stanley Cup every year.
- rangerdanger94

incorrect...the players have to listen to the coach, even if they dont agree with what the coach is saying.

Exactly. That was my point. If they dont he will slot mcdonald, sundstrom, or Boulton in their spot and switch the first line with the fourth line in ice time totals

I actually like the idea of dressing Boulton against the Bruins but it has to be on the 4th line in place of McDonald

Agreed. Having him up is fine but not at the expense of a player that could actually help the team. In other words exactly what you said . Point of my post was if the players dont listen to capuano and his system thats who take their place.
