Vrbata? - CubanBuffet
He's already on the 1st line and looking awesome with the Sardines. The 2nd line needs a lot of work. |

It would have to be a solid NHL ready forward prospect and veteran Defenceman - Gullzy
So someone like a linden vey and someone like a Stephane Robidas ?
I think Tanev's value to the Canucks is greater than his trade value...having him and hamhuis on separate lines gives them more stability |

Wtf he has a nose for the net. I hate Edmonton but that kid has good character. He would fit in well on the 2nd line. I'm not saying I dislike Wheeler or that he isn't comparable but I just have a personal preference to Ebrule. |

We need a scoring winger a shoot first type. Not a puck hog but when fed the puck he shoots the f@cking thing. - thundachunk

I agree with this, the issue is also that there are very few teams willing to move top 6 forwards which is what the nucks need. I'm not so sure that Eberle is the answer but I don't think there are many comparable players that might be available.
Schenn, Kane, Berglund, Kilhorn, M. Johansson are the only other guys that I can think of. - belcherbd
If the jets could have stayed afloat without Kane he might have been easier to trade ...he might fall in the overpay category |

Areas of strength that we can afford to move players:
Bottom 6 players
Goalie prospects
Areas of weakness or lack of depth:
Defencemen
Legitimate top 6 (we're about 3 short)
Size
Our problem is that the players we can afford to move aren't worth much, and the players that we need cost a lot. |

ok ok he's a skilled young player for sure, I hate his defensive game, which is non-existent, and he's soft like butter. Wheeler is a bit more to my liking is all. Whens the last time you saw Eberle stick up for a team mate?

Funny thing is its my son watching it. Two shows off limits in my house Caillou and Barney. - thundachunk
Caillou is off limits in my house as well - and my wife even works for the company who makes it.
edit - they're also responsible for Arthur and My Little Pony. |

Those aren't exactly in high demand, except 3rd line centers and we don't even have a legit one since Bonino is our 2LC and Horvat in unproven. Benning still has a lot of work to do, I'm only in favour of moving younger players/picks if the player(s) coming back are also young. |

Vey being NHL ready is debateable. Also depends on needs, and who is being offered to fill that need. |

That's right - the only time they're in high demand is around the deadline - when teams are searching for a "character guy"
I'd like to see the Canucks stay patient with their prospects. I don't think adding Eberle makes this team a cup contender. It may get a few more wins but depleting the cupboard while adding a high salary to the #2 line isn't a great long term decision.

Adding Ebrele might not make this team a contender but it makes us better. Goals = wins.

Without Tanev we'll also be getting lit up a lot more as well. And Corrado becomes our best young d-man......that's embarrassing. |

eberle is more then a character player.
He's a young player entering his prime. A move bringing him in just speeds up a rebuild because it gives a young prime player to build with (which the sedins were when the transition happened from naslund/bert to them). Its less of a gamble.
Also allows them to be patient with prospects and not have to rush them up to fill voids when the sedins start to show they need to move to the 2nd line.
