Hamhuis would never waive to leave his hometown team, to go to a worse team in colder weather. Tanev has proven himself, he's a legit top 4 d-man. Edmonton would love Tanev. - Nucker101
Yup - I can't ever see Hamhuis leaving the Canucks except to retire...Bieksa on the other and - maybe?
Edit: but certainly not to Edmonton!!! |

but they could use an older D that can play the system well. Thats where they are really falling apart...Hamhuis has the right personality for their needs. Solid, consistent, and could help out a player like schultz. Tanev is just another young player on a roster of young players trying to prove themselves for edmonton. - numbear
Tanev is a solid safe 3/4 dman that has been utilized in just about every situation and come across for the most part as steady and poised. He has only played in 156 games before this season but is a full time regular and only expected to sit if he is injured.
His offense game is getting better but still needs to work on his shot. He is a good passer with some vision.

From Bieksa's comments last year, it sounds like he has no plans or desire to go anywhere. How come these guys can't be more like Lebron James? |

I don't see either of them waiving or even being asked unless the Canucks are way out of it by the TDL. |

If Bieksa wanted to go back to Ontario he'd be better off going to Ottawa if he wants to win |

There is some talk that Kilhorn might be available with the emergence of Drouin/Kucherov/Connolly.
What would it take to get him and is he much of an upgrade on Higgins/Burrows on the 2nd line? |

I haven't seen him play much but he's 25 and put up 41 points last year. Sounds a bit of a lateral move |

I wouldn't trade Tanev unless it was an overpayment. He's the only Defenceman in our system with a upward trajectory.

I think (hope) he was joking - bezz44
Was trying to breathe some life on this boards. Seems like we had a lot more to talk about during the off season then now. I refresh after 30 mins and there is just 1 new comment.
If I have to troll to get this going that so be it.
BTW what do you guys think about Mathias? Is he really 3rd line material? Would it not be better to have Hansen on the 3rd line? |

At least he is younger, still hasn't reached his potential? Not sure what scouts would say about him. |

Too many third line players with the same skill-sets - we need some change!! |

Canucks should trade for Eberle - VANTEL
Seeing as the oilers probably don't want prospects I don't see a trade possibility here
Tanev and hamhuis are the only D men that would help the oil
Bonino would be the only center that's available that they would like
Canucks definitely have the pieces to squire a guy equivilant to eberle but most likely would have to be from a team looking to trade off talent for prospects |

It would have to be a solid NHL ready forward prospect and veteran Defenceman |

I'd much rather have Wheeler than Eberle - LeftCoaster

They'll want a top 4 d-man for sure and also need a decent center. - Nucker101
We can definitely afford to trade a centre, as long as they're ok with "decent", but we don't have the depth to trade a D. |

I agree with this, the issue is also that there are very few teams willing to move top 6 forwards which is what the nucks need. I'm not so sure that Eberle is the answer but I don't think there are many comparable players that might be available.
Schenn, Kane, Berglund, Kilhorn, M. Johansson are the only other guys that I can think of. |

We need a scoring winger a shoot first type. Not a puck hog but when fed the puck he shoots the f@cking thing. |

Matthias and Hansen have hands of stone, thought Matthias had more offense than Hansen but have yet to see it and thought Hansen was better defensively and played bigger than Matthias but both are too selective in their checks and haven't really been going to the dirty areas. - hillbillydeluxe
Hansen has better wheels. Can skate like the wind and create turn overs. We don't need the 3rd line to carry the offense. If they can forcheck and back check and keep the opposing teams just looking over their shoulders a little then we have an effective 3rd line. |

Both are still looking for their stride. They need a little more ice time imo but its hard to give it when others are playing that much better. I have noticed the hesitation going into the dirty areas but is that them or a product of the new system? |
