Tanev, Matthias, and McCann or Cassels... would like to get a draft pick back... can throw a goalie in if we have to, they are everywhere in this org, echl, ahl, nhl... - hillbillydeluxe
That's pretty steep, especially with McCann |

I was thinking before something similar Tanev Vey Cassels for Eberle |

It is an emerging dman and good prospect for a 30 goal scorer... guessing Edmonton would want more, that is why they are where they are. |

Really would like to keep Cassels and McCann too, but I guess we would have to give up one of them. Both are supposed to have some bite in their game. |

If they need a centre it needs to be Horvat Cassel's or McCann
If you wanted to be bold it could be Bonino and Tanev for Eberle |

Vey wouldn't be of any interest to that team, cap also wouldn't work. Richardson or Matthias I imagine would be more attractive to Edm as they need NHL caliber players now. Vey so far hasn't proved he is an upgrade on Draisaitl/Yakimov/Arcobello at this point.
I don't think that package is close enough for Eberle.
Horvat likely would have to be the center piece and we need him almost as much as they do. |

Yeah, it'd probably take something like that to get their attention, but Tanev's a defensemen and Eberle's a winger so even if Eberle's a more impact player you have to factor in how hard it is to acquire defensemen these days.
Lineup with Eberle does look more dangerous for sure, but defensively the Canucks go from being strong 2 years ago to suspect/average.
Sedin - Sedin - Vrbata
Higgins - Bonino - Eberle
Burrows - Bo/Vey/Rich - Kassian
Dorsett - Bo/Vey/Rich - Hansen
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Stanton(one of them has to play their off-side)
Sbisa - Corrado/Weber
And if the Canucks suffer an injury to one of Hammer/KB/Edler they're pretty much (frank)ed.

Wouldn't that give us a better draft pick for next year?

I don't care as much about the defense as scoring. Miller is getting paid, likes the action make him earn it.
Maybe that big Russian will develop and we see what we have on the farm and look to the draft for more d. If we were to bring in Eberle and his contract, we will need to go with some youth or value on d.
Feckin love Tuesdays.
... yeah, get Nuge too while you are at it. |

I agree the only thing the Canucks have in abundance is quality bottom 6 forwards and perhaps a Lack but I don't think Markstrom is good enough to be a backup.
If Petry was packaged in with Eberle, sure but I still don't think we have the pieces for that trade.

Do you think Benning is thinking like that this early in the season? |

Don't do this to yourself man. That's like Edmonton offering Petry + Nkitin + Fayne for Hamhuis and Bieksa. |

This is the bottom line for me as well. Don't think Benning will pay what Edmonton would demand. And it makes a lot more sense if they threw in Petry who seems unlikely to be re-signed by them from what I've seen on Twitter. But then the asking price goes even higher. |

Unless the offer is too good, if it's around the same value as another team is offering they'll likely choose the other one.
Tanev is the guy I'd see Edmonton wanting since the other top 4 guys are older and have NTC's. - Nucker101
but they could use an older D that can play the system well. Thats where they are really falling apart...Hamhuis has the right personality for their needs. Solid, consistent, and could help out a player like schultz. Tanev is just another young player on a roster of young players trying to prove themselves for edmonton. |

Hamhuis would never waive to leave his hometown team, to go to a worse team in colder weather. Tanev has proven himself, he's a legit top 4 d-man. Edmonton would love Tanev. |
