We are not Edmonton . We has vets to shelter young players. We have a decent management. We are closer to what TB did than EDM - VANTEL
TB has had one of the best and deepest prospect pools in the league these past few years in basically all positions. EDM was always top-heavy, after their top young guns they really lacked organizational depth in many areas.
Canucks don't have the top-end young talent either of those teams had, and still lack organizational depth in terms of quality young players IMO, especially compared to Tampa. Rough spot to be in with a non-contender. |

Only want to get rid of one of them - VANTEL
But then we won't have vet forwards to help younger players? You can't have it both ways |

Ya Bonino is really a third line Center who's terrible on the dot, my God I hope it Hank McCann Horvat down the middle in the next few years
HOPE!!! - LeftCoaster
I remember when some guys here were going at it with me when I said Bonino wasn't a legit 2nd line center prior to the trade. He's a nice offensive 3rd line center, he's fine as a 2LC if you play him with a winger that's better than him to carry the line. |

Hank is a forward vet
At the end of the year when Danny has 16 goals you will change your mind |

Not if it's a generational type of talent though, I'd rather have that than a first round loss in 5 games. - Nucker101
We're the best of the worst though. Even if they tried I don't think that they could tank bad enough to pick a generational talent (unless they get lucky in a later round) and they probably won't make the playoffs. |

Ya he desperately needs some higher skilled wingers to help him out. |

He's had some sweet dishes so far this year and he's leading the team in scoring, to my way of thinking he's playing just fine for a 34 year old. If he scores 20 I'll be more than happy!! |

Yeah even though he is weak on the face off , I blame his wingers more than him. Put him with Evander kane and Eberle see how he does. |

It's the Bonino Vey conundrum. I really like parts of both of their games, but when that's 2/4 of your centres, you might be in trouble. |

I dont think it has to be a generational talent though, just solid drafting can rebuild a team pretty quick, Tampa made many great picks outside of Stamkos/Drouin/Hedman as well. Great developmental system, their farm team is always loaded with young talent that's playing well. Hell, they even had a "bust" in Brett Connolly with one of their top 10 picks and it's barely hurt them. |

They're the LEAST of the Canucks problems. We need them both or we'd be Edmonton or Carolina. |

To be fair, a lot of centers would look good playing with those 2. Bening's hands were tied with that Kesler deal so I'm not to hard on him for the Kesler deal but all I'm saying is that Bonino was sold high by ANA. |

That's what he wants so the Canucks can land a top end prospect. I think you two have been over this argument before.. |

Not really IMO
A top line of 58-62 goals will put you in the lower half of the league |

I think next year if Virtanen is ready you will see a better game from him. Burrows Higgins don't offer up a lot of offensive chances to cash in on |

This I agree with. This year is going to be whatever it is going to be, probably pretty painful, but Benning is going to have to kill it at the draft. Not because he has a top 3 puck, but because he is able to find quality in later rounds. |

I also see Virtanen's game allowing him to translate into the NHL faster than our other prospects. Already has the speed/size and physicality to be effective in the NHL. And probably has better finishing ability than most of our forwards. I'm pretty excited to see him in Willie's system. |

If he's the real deal that make Shinkaruk tradable. |
