If we're overpaying Burrows anyway, it's worth the risk, no?
- Nucker101

Sure. Like I said I agree with you both. But it's not like we have anyone else on tap that would make this team any better right now. I still believe, 5 games in, that management is still thinking playoffs not weakening the team.

The Nucks are actually just behind where the Winnipeg Jets are, they just don't know it. The reason they're slightly ahead of us because they're actually starting to inject some of their picks into their lineup. We're not there yet.

Winnipeg had high picks the last couple of years . We need to do that too.

No, please no. It's not exactly a sure fire route to the playoffs or Stanley Cup. I would rather watch a team try and fail then try to fail.

I don't think by the end of the year we will have a choice. My opinion.

Then again, trying to fail and trying and failing is better than failing to try... which is where we're going to be fast if we're not careful.

Horvat and Virtanen were a start. Another top 10 pick is better than finishing 9th in the West.

Last two years we've picked higher than them, but 2011 & 2012 they picked 7th and 9th yes.

yup.

the tank to rebuild route isn't really a successful one. I think a winning culture can turn a team around faster then one draft player.

I agree, but if we're sitting in like 10th or 11th at the TDL then I'd like to see Benning make the hard decisions, eve if he does hurt some feelings.

Am I the only one on these boards who thinks Burrows takes too much heat? Sure he's not himself of yesteryear but my god he is far from the problem.

Not if it's a generational type of talent though, I'd rather have that than a first round loss in 5 games.

They are changing the draft in 2015 and then again in 2016 to stop tanking, it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Having him in the top six is the problem, they'll see that come January.

We are not Edmonton . We has vets to shelter young players. We have a decent management. We are closer to what TB did than EDM

He's still a solid 3rd liner, that's just way too much for his cap hit though. Just watch him on the PP, he doesn't have the offensive ability. I feel bad for Bonino on that unit, Higgins and Burrows are basically lost on the PP. They throw the puck into an open area and chase it, very little vision or creativity. But Higgins takes less heat since he's making a little more than half of what Burrows makes, and is making 3rd line money.

That's true of the entire "2nd" line.

True, having the twins, who you want to get rid of, does insulate the younger players which they don't have.
