Penner is fat and lazy. Just saying. But if SJ wants a cup they better sign him. |

First post was apart of the thread starter, then a few followup posts
Paajarvi is so young he could still turn a corner - who really knows. The real point here is that Barbashev is a very promising prospect. He also plays the LW and has size. With Perron's name constantly thrown around in trade proposals it seems all the more likely he won't be an Oiler until the season's end. Regardless of what we're trading him for, the mere fact that he didn't help us crawl out of the basement last year (despite his awesome play and point production) means this trade is maybe not as great as everyone thinks.
But 2nd round picks, for the most part, are bound to turn into NHL players. You're suggesting that it was worth giving up two important pieces of our future for a "win-now" that did absolutely nothing to help us in the short-term.
Edit: ^^CupofOil, this has nothing to do with Perron's play early on this season. Despite his point-production, he has remained a very effective top 6 player.
Not yet. But, as a team, the Oilers have done squat in the NHL. It is clear that last year wasn't the final year of our rebuild, so why trade away two promising picks/prospects for a solid top 6 winger if he's not even being given the opportunity to play that role this year?
Good question - probably not. I'll be straight with you there.
Nope, you're right. I fully supported the trade at the time, and I still support the logic behind the deal. However, I question how much we "won" it in terms of value. I'm also not intending to rake MacT over the coals for this deal, I do apologize if it came across that way.
MPS is still very very young. Who knows what he might become yet? And come on, Barbashev is doing just fine in the Q this year. |

Sounds like there is something (frank)ed up with him. Haven't gotten details, but there is something that the NHL knows that fans don't about him. |

You'd think he'd have a place in Boston, Dallas(2LW over Cole), Florida, Ottawa, Winnipeg |

Hes way to lazy for Dallas or Boston. He would get run out of those teams. The other 3 options you give. Why not give youngsters on the rise a shot over a lazy bum who is funny. Flor, Ott and Winnipeg arent challenging for a title. Hes a fun, funny guy to be around. But cant get into shape. |

Lol. It would appear so. But you dont want everyone else thinking they could just get fat and hope to score a playoff goal when it counts. |
