More goals and wide open hockey will not result in added pleasure from this fan. A hard fought 2-1 hockey game can be infinitely more exciting than a 6-5 barn burner. It all depends on where the game is played, as long as there is end to end action and the game isn't spent entirely in the neutral zone I'm pleased. The total goals scored are insignificant.

Really? We'll still have hard-fought games, especially in the playoffs for Fans to enjoy. Also, I completely disagree. The very definition of a barn-burner is a fast-paced game with lots of offensive chances. That means everyone is busy and the score also depends on other factors, such as the quality of goal-tending.
Weaker teams usually employ trapping and other defensive tactics designed to slow the game down which also results in more neutral zone activity that you don't like. Trapping would be more difficult to employ 4-on-4 IMO.

3pts for both teams if game is cancelled due to one of the 10 plagues actually happening.

Guessing 2 pts for any win and 0 for any loss would have the same results?

Srry, I am lazy and impressed by your energy.

Recalculated, 2pts for any win and 0 for any loss. No change in the playoff teams again.

I don't agree that a team must be considered weak to employ a trap. Also I have nothing against the trap when it's executed properly. Teams that excel at it tend to manufacture quick transition offense and can be very exciting.

The thought of 4 on 4 regulation makes me sick to my stomach.
