lol Go work ethic go!!

I do get your point, but I disagree that it's something to cheer for. The goal is to win games and win the cup. I'm not cheering for work ethic and good development, I want to see the flames win the cup!

You can cheer all you want for work ethic and development, but it's a much easier road if we had a Crosby on our team. I'm tired of seeing Calgary miss the playoffs and cheering for another Canadian team. Hard work and effort is great, but a player like McDavid that can potentially make us a contender every year in my opinion is something to actually get excited about this year rather than another year of hard working, good development and above Oilers results.

I believe the Flames are on the right path.. we have some great players coming up and will definitely be a great team in the future.. but while we're poopty during the rebuilding process I'm cheering for them to tank to get Mcdavid. They really only have this year to do it, because next year they might have a chance at the playoffs.

I think your in the minority here. 30 teams would love to have McEichel, but you don't see 30 teams trying to loose to make it happen. Intentionally loosing just sends the wrong message on so many levels.

Nobody said anything about intentionally lose. I said there's not much to cheer for this year except for beating the Oilers, beating the canucks and Mcdavid.

That doesn't mean I'm burning my jersey and giving up on them. We're obviously winning games and doing better than the Oilers which is awesome.. but come closer to the end of the season, it'd be a shame if we were 10 points above the Oilers who will probably be in last place.

menh, then they look passed the hype and draft one of the D prospects that are doing well. Its a deep draft year. And RW and RD are holes in the line up that would be great to fill soon.

Feel free to burn your jersey though.

It's all about creating a culture, a winning mentality, and a team identity. You can't just tank, draft McDavid, then flip the switch and make the playoffs next year. You're dreaming.
- The-O-G

I dont think hes saying tank or cheer for losses at the expense of a winning culture. If the team busts their asses but we still lose more than our share, why not cheer for the guy that can best help that hard working team at the quickest possible time period. Really, its as much a reward to that team as it is the fans. If a team tanks on purpose, and the fans cheer it on, they dont deserve the best player available.

fans cheering for a tank seems to be a growing trend lately.

He's getting vented on since flames fans hear it a lot. And edmonton seems to live that approach as well.

either way.

We will lose a lot of games, they'll bust their asses. Players will get better.

But reality is...I don't think we're in the running for Mcdavid unless the lotto is won. Theres teams so far showing that they are far worse and have bigger problems to fix then the flames.

Like someone said, we are only an extended Gio, Brodie or may e even Backlund injury away from a string of losses. The team works hard for wins, but without those 3 , we lack the talent to overcome losses of the best possession players on the team. I think our goaltending could sustain for a bit, but we would eventually go on a lossing streak.

well yes and no.

we held pace without gio, cammy and glenx last year. And have better depth this year.

That being said, its not star level depth. But every team is an injury or two away from a bad streak, its a given.

We're definitely going to have long losing spells. I'm surprised that this first road trip wasn't one.

On another note. Granlund seems to be picking up pace again, and ferland is holding on. Beart isn't doing much though, I hope he gets it going and gets a desire to prove himself.

I think the loss of glenx and cammy were not as impactful as the loss of gio ...losing one of Gio backs Brodie would be much worse than those two above

I'm honestly not the biggest fan of glenx anymore ...when he first came to Calgary he worked so hard like the kids do now ...but I notice lazy tendencies in him now that weren't there before

Did we not go 0 for 7 with, like, 4 shut outs against without Gio in the line up? Remember that period where they couldn't score to save their lives.

ya that was an ugly stretch. But wasn't go out for like 20 games?

But yes, gio is the one if hurt pays the biggest toll

Glenx, hudler not as much this year. Really their names are pretty quiet. Stajan....I feel bad for him dropping down to 4th line at times

Glenx has had 2 seasons of injuries but he's still averaging 20 + goals/season based on a full schedule.
I wouldn't panic yet and trade him now, lets wait for the trade deadline and see what he's worth.
He's the truculent forward lots of playoff teams desire!

Thought Bolig played a better game tonight, hitting going to the net! Just had to find his role.

Gotta give Hartley some credit. Sitting and saying whatever he said to both Johnny and Wideman seemed to have worked. Wideman with 3 goals now, he's starting to do what he's paid to do.

But yea, that was a sick entrance to the O zone by Gaudreau. Had all Tampa players either watching him or chasing him.
