we'll be fiiiiine. the only reason we lost was because we had bad luck on Cami's delay of game penalty. There was only 10 mins left and boom, they get a PP goal and take all the momentum.
- TheJerseyDevil1

Haha yea it does kind of worry me that there has only been one game that Cory hasn't let in 3 or more though but he isn't the reason we are losing.

he'll be fiiiiine too. I agree he's looked inconsistent, but I think he'll settle in. Maybe new contract jitters, its his first time as a starter.

I am just going to stay calm and think good draft pick lol. I actually had a terrible dream where we totally botched our first this year by going way of the board for a two way player I woke up and almost punched my gf lmao

Flashback to when we picked Jo? Hahah

Intense game last night. Severson continues to impress. Larsson is not a good NHL defenseman.

Yea I'm kind of glad we got a hand full of these guys... Would of been nice to have them all turn out to move one for a young forward but you can't really blame Larsson for the way he played. He has the jj effect it doesn't matter how good josefson does he is scratched next game and he never gets any better line mates then the fourth line and is expected to produce. Rutuu was the best member of our fourth line by a country mile and what does Pete do ? He takes him out instead of tootoo or gio and puts Brunner in. Pete doesn't have a clue how to coach and is the perfect guy to ruin a player or maybe it's just Swedish ones ? He did a number on kulikov so maybe it's foreigners lmao

How many goals did they score? Better yet how many chances did Zubs generate and how many shots did he take? The guy is a spaz and should be on a third line away from Jagr, Elias and Henrique. Jagr already has one linemate with stone hands does he really need another?
- NickA

Considering the PP was the only way NJ could score last night I'd say it was pretty important.

That being said, I still don't know why PDB (frank)ed with Cammalleri. Why? WHY ?

Was afraid we would miss Anton. Sal simply cannot do his supposed role anymore he's horrendous. Atrain was overpaid but he did his role very well still. And I knew we would miss Carter he was the only good player on that 4th line.

I get that but you really think that if Henrique, Brunner, or Cammy was there they wouldn't draw any penalties possible more than 2? Zubs is a good role player and needs to be put in that position PDB is a clown doesn't know how to get the most out of his roster. And we need to score 5v5 can't just rely on the PP i'm sure everyone knows this though i'm stating the obvious.

Not really, that line drew 2 penalties.

Yeah Jagr drew 2 penalties, zubrus was invisible all night up until his GW goal blunder

Didn't really like the Elias line in the game, they didn't do much. I would do:
Cammalleri-Zajac-Jagr
Havlat-Elias-Brunner
Clowe-Henrique-Ryder
Ruutu-Gionta/Josefson-Zubrus

Havlat and Elias have chemistry and Brunner is a more offensive player than Zubrus, plus he has looked really good. Give Camm another shot at the top line. 3rd line has been fine so far. Tootoo shouldn't play. Ruutu and Zubrus on the 4th line could work. Would prefer Josefson but Pete likes Gionta.

- Rseen

This is what I'd like to see, but we all know there is 0% chance Zubrus goes to the 4th line or even the 3rd

Severson and Merrill are going to be really good hockey players. Just stating the obvious. Another obvious, Devils will be a tough to team to play against if the elder statesmen forwards stay healthy for the majority of the season.

I'm not really in favor of keeping Zubs there. But it wasn't a total wash. I still don't understand why Cammalleri was moved.

The team had two offensively lackluster games against SJ & TB but Cammalleri was still producing and that line was far from the problem.

The one line that was fine. Should've left it.

Lou gave PDB 1,023 forwards, he couldn't play musical lines with them? He had to (frank) up the one good line?

(frank)ing really starting to hate PDB.

Its not a big deal, he has about the same chances to produce on any of our top three lines. None of them is miles ahead of the other. Ice time is about equal too.

For instance:
Henrique (3rd line) - 20:51 TOI
Zubrus: (1st line) - 12:38 TOI

Carter yes. A - train wreck no. We all knew it was one or the other with Sal & Volch. They're the same dude.

Cement skates, occasionally block shots, occasionally hit, once in a while take a stupid penalty, maybe get a few points.
So far Volch has 2 A, 3 SOG, 18 hits, 10 Blocks, 4 PIM from minors.
Sal has 0 pts, 6 SOG, 12 hits, 8 blocked shots, 5 PIM from a fight.

Both are pylons, Volch will most likely be hurt again at some point. It's a wash.

Sal stayed because of the contracts. And that stupid "C" that needs to be ripped off his chest.

If you dudes want to throw some corsi or something into the comparison go for it. I have no idea where to find that data.

As far as the eye test, both were out of position a lot, caught flat footed frequently, defenders literally skated right around them to the crease. Neither cleared the crease.

I guess the chances may have been the same but it was producing. Consistently. The lines weren't really that bad to begin with. PDB is just too impatient. There's going to be games where they don't score consistently . Especially against two teams significantly better than NJ.

I guess I should more concerned about how it's yet another season & NJ can't hold a lead for poop & PDB only confounds things with his questionable lineup decisions in crunch time.

As horrible as the PK has been, I sincerely doubt it's because of Volch.

Having Cammalleri in the box, who has been a part of the PK so fsr, didn't help.

Actually thought larsson didn't play badly last night. Didn't look out of position, yes he was a slow moving the puck, but again when you are looking over your shoulder all game it is to be expected. Salvador is killing this team. when he is on the ice it is like playing shorthanded, and he makes every penalty kill almost a 5 on 3. Plus the missing element that badly needs to be addressed is the fact that the devils can't win a face off.

Nah. I agree he's marginally less poopty than Sal, but we should count our blessings we have roster spots for kids now. Hell, Severson played 23 minutes last night.

If you think we're too young and should've kept someone, that guy would've been Fayne. But I have ragerts about letting both of them go. We still have kids coming up too, we needed the roster space.
