D looked good (maybe because we finally have the proper players playing).
Yaks needs to get more time.
Eberle needs to get that chimp off his back... Had a ton of opportunities and just couldn't bury.

I make good points about different issues i've seen then you and your buddy resort to your typical mind numbing bullpoop responses about (everything bad is eakins, everything good is players) because you can't actually argue any points, then you guys team up with you're mighter than thou everyone who blames Eakins doesn't know hockey and everyone is a tool bullpoop that gets irritating.

It doesn't take more than one person to see that your a complete idiot and completely un-knowledgeable about hockey. Not only should you find a different team to watch, you should probably find a different sport to watch. You're just one of the many cancerous Oiler fans who know eff all when it comes to hockey. |

agian, just another delusional jackass that can't refute a word i said and resorts to the typical bashing bullpoop. Congrats, you'll fit in with all the homers on here
Good job following the norm.. refute one thing i said then maybe i'll take you (frank)ing retards half serious. (frank)ing pathetic.
I'm embarrassed that you're the type of people who support our team and clearly have no (frank)ing clue how the game is played. I would be surprised if someone with your intellect could even lace up a pair skates, let alone actually know how to skate. |

But the Oil did play much better last night, now is that because of Eakins?I personally don't think so,I still think Eakins is just a AHL Coach. |

They did play much better, and yes i believe that it can be attributed to Eakins (for the most part) finally giving his better defenseman more minutes throughout the game.
Edit: but don't tell anyone i gave Eakins any credit, because apparently all i do is bash him for unwarranted reasons. |

i should find the interview with our OKC coach when he was asked if he was going to implement the swarm system on our farm team, and he just laughed and said "no" while he shook his head. |

one player is supposed to aggressivley attack the puck carrier, while 2 following players are supposed to take away the outlet passes, causing either a turnover from the aggressive checker, or an interception for the remaining two players taking the passing lane. Works great in the AHL, NHL players are a little more skilled though which makes this system pretty much useless, especially when the other 2 players are sitting there trying to anticipate the pass instead of just covering their player. |

This is the NHL, swarm defense needs to stay in the AHL, all it does is leave missed coverage and has people watching the puck and leaving the slot open. Collapsing defense is much more effective at the NHL level |

Now show me you understand hockey and go back to my previously stated concerns and tell me why I'm wrong, because nobody else can, but they all like to run their mouths and respond with typical condescending bullpoop becuase they don't have a clue what they're actually talking about. |

I'm not saying any system is perfect. All kinds have been used and all can be effective. Depends on many factors. Same with offensive system play. All can work with the right personnel and coaching. |

yes absolutely, and it's the coaches job to find a system that works and fits the type of players he has, it's the coaches job to assess and impliment, and either Eakins doesn't see that it's not working with our young core and shotty defense, or he just refuses to change it. |

He already has made a number of adjustments.
For some of these guys they have played their whole life positioning themselves between their man and the net. Now to adjust to placing themselves between their man and the puck is new.
I'm not saying Eakins is great because I have been questioning a lot of his moves all the way back into last year. But I see better things now than in a long time. 5on 5 is the best we've been in a decade. |

the past game, singular, yes. it only took a full year and a couple games. Hopefully he continues to roll with these defensive pairings. I still think that Marincin and Fayne should be playing more minutes than Nikitin and Ference though. This game was the first one in Eakins tenure where I thought he actually adjusted his game plan and rolling of lines in a constructive way, don't get me wrong I want him to succeed, I want him to turn the Oilers around, but before yesterday he has done absolutely nothing to convince me that he's capable of doing so. |
