Need to mention bishop who was on point. He robbed us a good 4 or 5 times.

To think we could have had him for Ryan jones and a 3rd

- CrustyRooster

Very true. He was solid. The guys owe him for keeping them in it, even if the shot clock didn't look horrible.

Bishop openly criticized the guys last night post game from some reports I read. He said he was disappointed in all the Edmonton rushes due to defensive breakdowns and that he saw more rushes in that game then he did in his first 4 starts. I think him saying this is a good thing for sure.

Injuries happen, now its time to step up. Connolly and Drouin did. Lets hope the rest follow suit.

I would love to see a line with Drouin-Stamkos-Connolly and play Palat with Filppula and Johnson. The 3rd line would be the "ov" line and Boyle and Morrow as the 10th and 11th guy in a 11/7!

How many goals did Drouin get? Not 7? Bust.

I don't understan. Garrison has that booming shot and Stralman is the more reliable even strength/pk defender. What do you think the rationale is?
- BlueBallz

Garrison makes horrible decisions with the puck with more frequency.

He was a -1 in his first game, bust. No defensive awareness.

This coming from a fan of a team that has Yakupov on it . So he knows what a player without defensive awareness looks like.....

Yes i was !!! Dont know what that guy was watching 27 had a pretty good game in my eyes . Its hard to blame someone for being a - in their first game . With any luck johnson puts in some of his get set ups and he would have been a +

Drouin still has a few things to work on, but to me, what was more impressive, was how he didn't appear out of place AT ALL in his first game. He keeps it up and working hard at it, he'll be flanking Stammer before long.

Was at the game and couldn't be happier to see Drouin debut. I've watched a few Moosehead games and noticed right away that he was not riding MacKinnon's coattails, a Malkin/Crosby combo as it were in the Q. And like some of you have mentioned, couldn't believe how well he looked for someone playing their first NHL game, it looked like his 100th game. You guys won't miss St. Louis for very long if he keeps that up.

Stamkos played better than I think you're giving him credit for, he has an uncanny way of finding the puck but the Oilers defense was top notch all night. Which is weird to say, let alone see.

Who is Sustr? and what amazon did Yzerman find that giant? wasn't very good, but Hal Gill-like in being ridiculously hard to get around.

I was sitting by the visitors exit and noticed blood on Callahan's knee when he left the game. Could be a laceration, if so hopefully not too deep.

... my post was sarcasm from the endless mouth breathers who come into our threads and post about Yakupov's bad defensive awareness but never actually watch him play, they look only at +/-. If they watched him, they'd see the complete 180 he's done.

Drouin had a great first game.

Radko to IR with the call up of Blunden. Eric E is also reporting that Killorn is feeling better so maybe he is a day to day and will be back soon and on this road trip.

My line guesses for tonight:

Palat-Stamkos-Johnson
Drouin-Filppula-Connolly
Kucherov-Namestnikov-Brown
Morrow-Boyle-Blunden

or they ride 7 D and Blunden sits. Interested in seeing if Connolly and Drouin play with Fil that should be a fun line to watch.

I also wonder when Cooper will start giving the Vlad line a little more ice time, I think he is slowly bringing them along but at some point we need to use them more to give the top 2 lines more a breather with one or two less shifts.

This game was bullspit and I'll tell you why :

Edmonton played a good game and they wanted the win more. So there's that. They out-hustled us.

The Connolly goal should have stood. There was no goalie interference. Sure, Boyle's skate was in the crease. I have never been a fan of that rule being strictly enforced, regardless of what team it is. Connolly was robbed of a good goal there.

I am not blaming the outcome on that bad call. Great teams overcome bad calls. We didn't do that. The rule, as interpreted last night, is stupid. A little dirt on the doorstep is a fact of the game.

Carle - Jesus man, let me address this directly to Mr. Matt Carle. (Ahem), "Matt, LET BISHOP MAKE THE SAVE." .... We don't have the Smellis tandem in net any more. We have solid goaltending. You got burned like the big muldoon you are, so let the goalie bail you out. I think Hall embellished a bit, but the ref had to call a PS on that one. Rookie move and Carle is better than that (hopefully).

Morrow plays better against kids. He's like Butch Magnus, the playground bully. He didn't look half bad last night, all other things considered.

Speaking of which, we need THE BEARD. I hope Krampus makes an appearance as Gudas in Calgary.

Who put quaaludes in our water cooler before the game? Give credit to Edmonton, but they aren't New Jersey. They don't have a magical defense trap. The Bolts looked like they had concrete in their skates. There were a few exceptions - the youngest kids fighting for roster spots looked good. Palat is overdue to break out.

Drouin looks great. That kid's hands look magic. Danger danger Will Robinson! When this kid gets comfortable at the NHL level, and lines up alongside Stamkos. Look out.

Did anyone fail to notice the lack of Hedman? He was a gaping hole in our defense. We need to patch that vulnerability fast or the season will get 2x hard.

Ok, Calgary has a hot goalie. I assume everyone saw what he did to Chicago. Let's not start patting ourselves on the back for a quick bounce back in Calgary. We are going to have to earn it.
