Bickell, Morin and Johnny O for Buff !!
- Hawkytalk

At around game 20 the Jets might get in panic mode, as will Carolina, Edmonton to name a few. Byf might be on the trading block but I would not give JO away, we need him and the 5.75 million cap hit is pricey.

Not to mention that Buff is not a very good D-man. He gets lost in coverage.

Wow, we have victory laps on Ebola already...

The TWO Dallas nurses, must have worked real hard to contract the disease.

Look at the panic and hysteria of all of the neighboring countries in Africa, who have shut borders and transportation...such reactionaries. Only in America can someone make an argument that isolating an illness as ineffective as to how it spreads. It is akin to saying that abstinence is not the best way to ensure that you will not get pregnant!

TG - no victory laps - all I'm saying is that this is a disease that's very hard to catch - and if it's 2 Dallas nurses in over a month of concern, that's a bit of proof for that. It has nothing to do with the competence of the government. Any one in Chicago or Tampa who is immediately concerned about getting it - or the school districts in Mississippi and Ohio who shut their schools, or the school district in Mississippi (I think) who determined that an official who came home directly from a country in Southern Africa - far away from the disease - should take a paid vacation - they are ignorant of how the disease spreads and are perpetrators and victims of fear mongering.

Have a hunch the Hawks play their best game of the year tonight and find a way to lose. That is the yin and yang of the game.

I think it would be funny if they just stumbled along and went without a regulation loss for like 20 games.

JJ said it best, when you have guys like Toews and Kane, you find ways to win these sorts of games and for that matter playoff series like last spring...

I just hope they protect Raanta like they have Crawford: less than 24 SOG would be good.

A disease that has run thru communities in Africa and has anywhere from a 50 to 90% mortality rate commands respect. You cite the 2 nurses as proof of how hard it is to get, yet there is no report or understanding of how they acquired the virus.

The virus does not necessarily show symptoms immediately, so to proceed with caution is not unreasonable.

I do agree on your latter points about those who may use as an excuse to not work etc....but overall on the risk spectrum, after listening to CDC authorities, and watching how other countries deal with this threat...I will proceed with caution...

The two Dallas nurses had to have come into DIRECT CONTACT with the bodily fluids (blood, vomit) of a contagious ebola patient to have contracted the disease.

DIRECT CONTACT.

It is NOT spread thru the air like flu.

Ok, go sit in a room with a bunch of coughing Ebola patients.

You said they Had to have direct contact...yet there is no confirmation they actually directly contacted the virus. The facts say that it remains a mystery right now.

Look I am not suggesting that it is like the flu exactly, what I am pointing out is that given the track record of all those "EXPERTS" who tell everyone there is nothing to worry about, and make themselves look foolish in their explanations, that it is better to be safe than sorry.

Dont worry ... Against Philly's poop Defense the hawks will get off plenty of solid scoring chances. And to keep with todays theme - the Flyers defense unfortunately contracted Dbola this season

This hyperbole is the same strawman that so many like to rail against. Like when somebody comes out and suggests something that is counter the comfortable mainstream thought. Like when someone says that they do not like the way the hawks are playing, and everyone suggests that means people are on some sort of ledge.

Happens every night on the board. Instead of addressing their difference of opinion and articulating a counter point, it is just more intellectually expedient to suggest your adversary is crazy on a ledge.

Then again, who am I to question government authority when there is such a great track record of defining and correcting problems....

No mystery - bodily fluids, left on the nurse's gloves, and transferred while the gloves were being removed and there is a rubber snapping with removal, or a coughing patient.

And there was a period where they was no diagnoses.

My last post on this (multitudes cheer): an article from The Capitalist Tool (Forbes):

http://www.forbes.com/sit...-heres-how-to-understand/

I wouldn't want to sit in a room with a bunch of coughing ebola patients - but from everything I've read, being in the same city - or neighborhood - or most likely the same building in a different room - would not lead to acquiring the disease.

Actually, getting a bit more peppered helps when you're a goalie. It keeps you in the game and on your toes. Any time you're the goalie getting more shots on you, the better. When you're not seeing a lot, the few shots you do see, feel like the biggest shots of your life becuase you're cold and nervous you might let one.
I'm more worried about the Hawks not being able to close out a game in regulation. For all the talent we have, it seems weird that for the past few seasons we can't just put a few up and hold the lead.

I am with you, call me a pansy, but as I perceive, some folks assertions that this virus follows a set of rules and sticks to them, is a bit oversimplified to me.

I look at the virus like a loaded gun...not to be toyed around with..

And by the way, to all, I hope it is contained and goes away.

So:

(a) ebola is like a loaded gun
(b) you want ebola to be contained and go away
Therefore:
(c) you favor absolute gun control

Just following the logic.

Hey everyone look...someone got the courage to throw stuff at the animal in the ring.

This may be hard for you, but I laid out my case. If you disagree fine, if you want to minimize my points...then go ahead and use your words to make a point.

My suggestion for you, if the conversation and topics drift to a level beyond your comprehension level, just skip to the next one. Every few pages, somebody will throw out that trade gem that brings back somebody from the 2010 team to cure all the teams ills....

Direct contact while wearing full hazmat suits. The risk to the public at large is probably minimal, but there is no reason not to take every possible precaution in dealing with this disease. The notion that it can't happen here is just arrogant.
