So do we have a goalie controversy starting?

he has shown more talent and speed then I thought he had, not to mention discipline!
- busmaster

Agreed. Too bad he wasn't born with hands though for he could have a few more goals. However, when Smith got absolutely run last night, who was there to answer the bell and call out the Philly player?

I know that's his role but it was refreshing to see, especially the chirping from the bench after the fact. carcillo holds players accountable. Wish more Hawks did. He might be handy to have around this Saturday night.

Now if Darling starts and has an impressive showing we might have, for the first time in the cap era a competition for the backup position. Makes me feel more comfortable when, not if, CC has a health issue.

#AnttiRaantaiselite

but umm no. Though as a Blues fan, one can hope there gets a little friction and doubt there.

Are the Blues going to have a "red out" promotion like the Preds are doing?
- StLBravesFan

No. St Louis welcomes the extra money that comes in when Chicago fans come to town.

I've yet to see anyone suggest this. It seems at times that some equate being happy with a lot of what Q's done equates to worshiping him or whatever.

As far as an alternative to 'kool aid', frankly there shouldn't need to be one. It just isn't a concept that is consistent with the notion that this thread has been (more often than not) a place where passionate and 'savvy' fans come to hang out and have fairly intelligent discussion.

I guess I'm saying there's just no real need to undercut or trivialise someone, that surely won't make them change their mind. I'll get off the soapbox now.

It's just human nature to dismiss people with different opinions as being extreme and irrational, even though rarely are either true. In my opinion, "kool-aid" is a term to do just that. If I think the team has some problems but you think I'm wrong to worry about them, I'll just dismiss your opinion as "kool-aid" or "homerism" -- thereby trivializing your likely rational thoughts. Or if I'm the more optimistic one, I'll just label you a "hater" or "you must not be a fan," because if you're a rational person with a rational POV then I really have to consider your position, which takes effort, or worse, I might have to, gulp, admit I'm wrong or change my mind. Far easier on the brain and the ego just to dismiss your rational thoughts as "homer" or "hater," with terms like "kool aid" or "you must not be a fan" other ways to trivialize.

This is a great blog, and reading the varying opinions and arguments has enriched my experience as a Blackhawks fan. For this to blog to be even better, let's all try to understand that everyone here is a rational, thoughtful person with good reasons for thinking the way he does, even if you might disagree with those reasons.
