Nick Leddy with his 3rd G in the 1st few minutes tonight vs Leafs.

Essentially traded Leddy for Richards.

If Leddy stays healthy, I expect he will be in top 10 D scoring.

Leddy will get a bunch of opportunities and put up a lot of points this year im sure. But that speaks more about the Isles D than it does Leddy being some great player that the Hawks didnt want/misjudged. Leddy would still only be the 5th best defenseman on this team. He was expendable, and we needed to add center depth.

Well, it matters since the hardheaded Q loves his veterans and has Richards on the point on the 2nd unit PP. Steel yourself for lots more of what we've seen - odd man breaks and breakaways and GA while on the PP.

It also matters when you watch no one able to break the trap that so many use against this club. Going to be an arduous year watching Q's ineffective counter-strategy.

With Vishnovsky coming back soon, how does that effect Leddy's PP time with the Isles?

Are you really a Hawks fan?

You kind of indicate that you'd take great pleasure in the Hawks being bad.

Even if Richards wasn't signed an Leddy was retained this season he would have been gone next year anyway way Kane and Toews' new deals kick in. Whatever Nick does for the Islanders he would have never done for us, he was not going to supplant anyone from our top 4.

I wish Nick all the best and I have no doubt he'll put up a decent amount of points.

All of this because Stan traded a 3rd pairing defenseman who averaged 14 minutes per game?

If Q is liking what he has seen of Richards then he is a very sick man.

Probably doesn't make a huge difference. Boychuk/Nielsen getting most of the PP time on 1st unit and I don't see that changing. Unlike the Chicago PP, the NYI PP does look effective.

If 4 games decided a season, this would be a bigger issue. Give the guy past the month of October at least to improve his 5 on 5 play.

Turtles rarely get faster but I'm willing to give him all season to get better. I'm sure there will be one or 2 teams they play where he can handle the center he is matched up again.

Yes. In fact going to Nashville to see them on Thursday.

Just because I don't drink the kool-aid or agree with everything Q doesn't mean otherwise. Did you happen to read the Trib this Sunday? The excerpt from Chelios' forthcoming (11/1) autobiography. Was quite revealing and should also give you some insight into how things are run in pro sports. Opened my eyes, that's for sure.

Loved Cheli as a Blackhawk. Hated him as a Wing. And moreso because of what I heard/read about him wanting out. Only to read that things didn't quite go down as we were lead to believe. Put a much different spin on his time here and how I viewed the guy.

I don't take pleasure in the Hawks being bad, regardless of what you might think of me. Q gets a measure of respect for what he's done but in no way do I agree with ALL he does. His reliance on guys over the hill and his in-game design for countering what is thrown at his team is puzzling many times to me.

My comments are more to the point of all those here who continued to shout me down essentially saying Nick Leddy was NOT what so many of you thought he was and I've been watching him step up. Whether it continues remains to be seen. Clearly he has the tools and so far has put it together. He might be one of the big surprises out East.

Not bitter so much as disappointed.
And also excited for Leddy. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for a player.

I'm sure you and many other wouldn't mind. Actually have watched as much of them as possible along with the Hawks. My god, Frolik is still discussed here but I get called out for commenting that Leddy scored his 3rd already early in the season?

Pretty tired of this phrase. It's asinine, pointlessly belittling, and does little to give your argument credence. Highly doubt there's anyone who's going to tow the company line in all aspects on this thread.

Just as you are happy to voice your displeasure and construe that as an enlightening quality, being happy with how some things have been handled doesn't constitute being part of the perceived 'great unwashed.' Not suggesting you are arguing this notion, but it comes implicit with the 'kool aid' phrase.

Not that this will do any good, but the scenery was pretty good for Leddy last year: 16:22 minutes per game to show what he could - and couldn't - do.
