All the pre season hype was Richards Saad and Kane.
Haven't seen them together once...when Bickel sucks everyone wants to promote him to the top line...interesting double standard.... |

If anything, I believe that Morin will be a component in a trade deadline deal, or will be around for depth this season.
Morin has a little upside with his heavy shot and physical play. However, I don't know if he's really a fit for Q's system. I guess we'll see as the season goes. - EKolb13
Morin was billed as a sniper when coming up, but he hasn't shown that he can locate that heavy shot with any consistency at this level. And that shot hasn't even looked particularly dangerous lately even when put on target.
I'm inclined to send him to Rockford and pad his AHL stats and see if somebody is willing to pick up a flyer midseason on a guy with average speed, no moves, and an unwillingness to use his decent size to create chances. As far as I'm concerned, he should be done with this team. |

I wouldn't view the idea of Bickell on the top line as a "promotion." Rather, it's an idea of finding a way to get Bickell going. Somewhere along the way, I'd like to see the Bickell/Toews/Kane line given a shot for a few games just to see if that does get Bickell going. That line had success in the playoffs in 2013, and I could see a glimpse of that again in the 3rd period of the first game against Dallas this season.
Again, it's not a definitive answer of how to get things going. It's just an idea of what might work. |

I agree with the highlighted. However, the problem is the organization having to send Morin through waivers in order to get him to Rockford. I don't believe that he could pass through waivers without another team putting a claim on him. |

So you'd just give Morin away....for nada...
Put him on the list of young talent not given a chance, then lost for nothing.
Package him in a deal, lose some cap space and allow the guy to have a shot on another club. He deserves it...
...perhaps he'll be fortunate to face the Hawks and light 'em up. I'd be pulling for him to do just that. - ArlingtonRob
Don't give away for nothing, yes - but - who exactly is "on (that) list of young talent not given a chance, then lost for nothing"?
Pirri, Skille, J. Hayes - these guys can't even find skating time on some bad teams.
Frolik? A cap casualty who is so-so at the Peg.
Seems that whoever is making decisions to get rid of young players who can't make it here have been pretty accurate in their assessments so far.
Don't want to lose Morin for nothing, but what's he done to "deserve" a shot at another team - how has he not been treated fairly here - and why would a presumed Blackhawks fan want to see someone who couldn't make it here come back and "light 'em up"? |

Bickell would have the best contract in the entire Leafs organisation if that ever happened. |

Saad has to just get aggressive and shoot the puck on net when he has the opportunity to do so.... stop worrying about the pretty play to much. - BGKarras
Saad also needs to play away from the "stars" on this team. He is looking around too much on rushes looking to pass to one of his over-respected linemates when he is in a better scoring position himself. Then he directs a pass up someone's rear end wasting a good scoring chance. |

I might wager a beef sandwich on that, but if he doesn't so what. If Morin being claimed creates cap space then there's your return. And if that's all they got for Buff then oh well. That was then and now is now. - 6628
Losing Morin this way will not create cap space. He has a low salary and will need to be replaced by someone else because we are carrying a minimum roster. |

Ryan Stanton is the only name that comes to my mind that would fit on the "list" and he's a #5 to #7 Dman at best. |

Keep Dahlbeck and make the 2nd in 2016 then Toronto can keep their 4th. Toronto wouldn't do either deal but I'd love to have JVR, especially if Stan has to deal Sharp in the off season. |

JVR has a reasonal cap hit, $4.25 million, until the end of 2018. That would come in handy. On second thought maybe it would be worth parting with one of our two 2nd rounders in 2015 to get him (as part of a package). |

If we move Morin because he doesnt really fit or hasnt developed the way they thought he would, then man, the return on that 2010 trade with Atlanta is pure GARBAGE
Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager, Aliu
for
Morin, Marty Reasoner, Joey Crabb, the no.24 pick (Kevin Hayes), the no.54 pick (Justin Holl)
That a whole lot of nothing we are left holding |

Worked his way into the line-up" as a 5-7 defenseman (averaging about 14 minutes per game) on a poor team does not mean he was "young talent not given a fair chance" and should be on Rob's "list".

Who of the four ex-Hawks is still in the league?
Only Byfuglien - so it's a whole lot of nothing for Byfuglien - correct - but it was a cap / contract dump.
I certainly hope you're not suggesting that they not move Morin because it will make that four year old deal look worse.

Sometimes that's how it goes. Morin is unable to skate around even th slowest defenceman. Which means one guy can cover him. I have yet to see him draw a second defender to him which means he doesn't open up space for his linemates. People say he's a physical player but when and where was that. And a heavy shot? I saw him snipe once or twice a couple years ago but I don't see it now. Morin reminds me of Rene Borque the way he skates, but at least Borque gets to the net and will run someone occasionaly when that player happens to skate between him and the boards.

Fair enough
however/
.... this constant discussion on 'How to get Bickel" going is wearing thin with me. Wish we had traded him last July along with Leddy and gone after Kesler. He looks amazing with the Ducks. Instead we try and jump start a 4 million $$$ player. Wow.
