Per asst. GM Mark Jakubowski, #Sabres have only 2 choices with D Nikita Zadorov: keep him in NHL or send him to London of OHL.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC
Nikita Zadorov can't be loaned to #Amerks "and the league wouldn't allow us to assign him to the KHL," #Sabres asst GM Mark Jakubowski said.

More on Nikita Zadorov from #Sabres asst. GM Mark Jakubowski: "He is under contract to London and that's the only place we can send him."

Dallas was allowed to loan Julius Honka to AHL because he was in loan from Finnish team to Swift Current last season. Had no WHL contract.

I am sure that I am only reiterating the obvious here, but if Zadorov is not being sent to the KHL, which is obviously the case or he would be there already, then he must get playing time here. Lots of it. And NOW.

I am sick and tired of this circus that the Sabres' management of prospects has become. No prospect gets better by not playing. Send Reinhart to junior already. 6 minutes of playing time is a joke. And play Big Z, give Weber, Benoit or Meszaros a healthy scratch instead.

I can understand that they are reluctant to sit Meszaros and Benoit, because they may think they can move them at the trade deadline for at least some small compensation. But honestly, after a season on this team, their already minuscule trade value will plummet even lower.

Playing in the NHL on this terrible team and at this stage of his development is not ideal for Zadorov. He could lose confidence making so many mistakes, and become accustomed to a losing culture. I would rather have him develop by dominating at a lower level. However the alternative is not acceptable. He must not sit in limbo.

Tim Murray and Ted Nolan need to reprioritize their strategies and make sure they are developing and giving appropriate playing time to the prospects and players that will be a part of the future for the Sabres. Stop making decisions based on this next game and the next week and this season. And start considering what is best for the future of this club in two or three years.

So what I have gathered is;

He has a contract with the KHL

He has a contract with the OHL

The KHL will not let him play in the OHL

The NHL will not let him play in the KHL

The KHL and OHL will not let him play in the AHL

So.....I guess hes stuck in the NHL then????

I don't think they want to burn a year of his entry level deal . He is getting paid his NHL salary but if he plays more than 9 games it is burnt . In this case I do not understand why the NHL does lets him play in the AHL and makes an exception to the transfer rule . It is not like the Sabres or Zadarov do not want to send him to London . My fear is that if he goes back to the homeland and those tax free KHL dollars he might not come back.

Well if giving a 31 year old a five year contract is a great idea simply because "he wants to be here", logic would dictate that if Zadorov goes to the KHL and decides to stay, it would be a non-issue. After all, it would mean he doesn't want to be here, and therefore not worth it.
