This team was run over a couple nights and scrapped out a couple wins. I would say though that the lines last night looked more like a winning line up. Gaudreau, Backlund and Raymond looked really good in the 2nd and 3rd.
Is it just me or does Glenx look like he's lost a step? He used to blow right past players and was one of the fastest on the ice.

Whatever you want to call it, I feel for some of their fans. Their HB boards looks like a Jr high breakup gone bad.

I've never seen so many people with the heads in the sand. If the sand was kevin lowe's butt hole.

I'd take Giordano over Subban any day of the week. I'd agree with Keith and Seabrook but not Leddy and Boychuck. Boychuck is a strong d-man and leddy has promise, but No way they're better.
Giordano was a +12 on a team with a -32 goal differential. He was 11th among defensemen in scoring but he was third among points per game (.734) ahead of guys like Weber and Subban. Missed 18 games with a broken ankle (blocking a shot) so he likely would have been higher in overall points. And his corsi numbers are among the best in the NHL. Especially relative to the quality of team around him and his zone starts.

What about the weeks in May-June?

Giordano will be playing golf while Subban's playing hockey...

Of course over Subban and Markov. I can have Brodie + Gio 2 for 1 (PK), plus another 5.7m (Markov) to sign others.

I say by the way they are playing right now they are one of the best

Name five better pairings playing right now.

- tmurph

Keith Seabrook
Chara Hamilton
Doughty Muzzin
Pick two of Pieterangelo, Shattenkirk and Boumeester
Weber Josi
McDounagh, Girardi.
Yandle OEL

that's off the top of my head. They are pretty good...but not one of the best.

How'd you like the 4 unanswer goals at your house last night?

It sucked.

Although no idea how that is related to my post.

All of these pairings are very good. I might take Weber and Josi ahead of Gio and Brodie. I think Weber's better than Gio is, but I think Brodie is going to be a much better defender than Josi by the time they both hit their ceilings.

Doughty and Muzzin would be right there for me too. Their offensive numbers don't do them justice playing in Sutter's hyper-defensive system.

I love Pietrangelo too, but Gio's way better than Bouwmeester, and Shattenkirk isn't as good as Brodie (although I'm sure most people who don't see Brodie play enough would disagree).

Yandle/OEL is a solid pair, but I put Brodano above them easily, and PK/Markov is a good pair too, but they're as likely to cost you the game in the dying minutes as they are to win it for you.

Chara used to be great, but I'd take Gio now, and I'd take Brodie over Hamilton every day of the week.

And the Rangers duo is again, very good... but I'm still going with Gio and Brodie. More offense and better defense makes it a no-brainer.

It`s funny because Brodie and Gio currently have more points than any of those pairings combined. But I suppose that`s irrelevant?

This is a good list ...I think fans of every other teams would take those over gio/Brodie.... Based solely on the aspect of not watching Brodie enough ...having said that I think that the flames duo is probably overall in the discussion but just behind those guys ....now if you want to talk value and throw in cap hits ? Then the flames paring just might be higher than a few of those

Keith and Seabrook, Muzzin and Doughty ...OK

Weber and Josi, Suter and Brodin, we might have an argument.

Yandle and OEL? McDonnaugh and Girardi? Chara and Hamilton?

Nope.

And you`re right, factor in value and cap hits and it`s even more in Gio & Brodie`s favour.

McDonagh is a better player than Giordano. McDonagh is probably top 5 right now. Giordano just isn't.

That`s just straight East coast bias right there.

I don`t think Gio would be prematurely blowing the zone and costing his team games in the Conference finals!

Swap gio and McDonagh spots ...gio would have a better goalie , more skilled teammates , and being playing in the east against weaker teams

McDonagh would have to help teach a young team while still putting up top 3 ppg for a d man and remain a plus player and strong possession player on a team full of rookies

I'm not one of these guys who thinks gio is a Norris d man but he is still far more underrated than any top d man

You can laugh all you want but offensively they are very similar although Giordano's Points per game (.73) was better than Subban's (.65). Giordano posted a +12 on a terrible flames team with a -32 goal differential. Subban was -4 on a Canadians team that finished 9th in the league with a +11 goal differential. Subban has a bad habit of taking bad penalties and letting his emotions get the best of him. Don't get me wrong, he's a good D-man, but I'd still take Gio. I also don't think he should have won the Norris but thats another topic.

Ok have fun continuing to lose in the playoffs cause with the tema you've got now you have absolutely 0 chance of winning the cup with your midgets at centre
