Oilers are stuck in perpetual suck! Their rebuild was as much about an attempted culture change as anything. They dumped all the so called trouble makers like Souray and expected guys like Hall, fresh off their draft to come in and alter the attitude of the organization. That is where the failed the most. They still maintain a losing mentality and I'm not so sure that any # of vets that come in, from winning organizations or not! will be able to turn this around. I predict rebuild #2or 3 or whatever will begin in 2 seasons. We should be well on our way to cup contender by that point. - TandA4Flames
Whatever you want to call it, I feel for some of their fans. Their HB boards looks like a Jr high breakup gone bad. |

anyone else notice since the season started there have next to no oiler fans on this board...
After a long off season of constant bragging about how improved their team was and how much better their goaltending was
Now not only do the flames have better defense and goaltending, so far they have better offense too
Now the only thing surer than death and taxes is that the Oilers suck |

If you want to talk overall (as in most versatile) they are tough to beat! Love watching them play! |

Some of the posters that used to come over are decent, and it makes for a fun rivalry. Some are just idiots. But I would love to have the BOB mean what it used too.
Edit: Even if that means the Oilers stop sucking. |

Like I would say the better pairing right now are likely
Subban and whatever pylon is on the ice
Keith and Seabrook (although they play away from each other quite a bit)
Maybe the Leddy/ Boychuck combo as they look great early on. |

I personally think Subban is the real deal. He is one of the most exciting player to watch. |

He's so overrated just because he's exciting he's not a very good defender (Callahan goal) he takes a ton of minor penalties and his ego is huge |

I'd take Giordano over Subban any day of the week. I'd agree with Keith and Seabrook but not Leddy and Boychuck. Boychuck is a strong d-man and leddy has promise, but No way they're better.
Giordano was a +12 on a team with a -32 goal differential. He was 11th among defensemen in scoring but he was third among points per game (.734) ahead of guys like Weber and Subban. Missed 18 games with a broken ankle (blocking a shot) so he likely would have been higher in overall points. And his corsi numbers are among the best in the NHL. Especially relative to the quality of team around him and his zone starts. |

I said playing right now. Boychuck and Leddy have just been playing really good. Their play will come down to what it should be.
Id take Brodie and Gio before them though every day of the week.
Wideman has looked good the last couple of games FYI. Him and russel played liked a number 2 pairing last night. |

Dude Gio and Brods are psychically connected. Gio has slowly developed into an elite Dman. If you are a flames fan just enjoy it. |

but you're a much worse team. and Giordano is 31 and will be past his prime by the time Calgary is out of their rebuild. good thing you've got the sense of humour though! |
