Last year there were only 3 players that scored 40+g. With 87 and 71 good for 30-40, PH 30+, even if Yak was realistically capable of 40+, I just don't see it happening or even needed. I don't think it would be worth over paying for, a solid 30g scorer would be ideal for what the Pens would have to give up.

There's always a need for more goals.

But we both agree to not sell the farm for guys with uber high ceilings when we can get solid players and address our needs for cheaper.

Im still on the Martin for McGinn deal if the Avs blow another lead in the 3rd period. But I would want to Send a dman with him too. Could McGinn and Ryan Wilson (UFA) for Martin and a small kicker work out?

DO NOT need another defenceman, Wilson would be like 10th on the depth chart. Throw a forward prospect in and we can talk.

Sgarbossa, Vincour, Meurs are the prospects I would feel most comfortable moving, and if we had to Agozzino

Voynov hearing isn't until Dec 1st, with felony consideration. I highly doubt he is able to play until that date at the absolute earliest. Tough call on whether or not they bring him back now.

That's why I would aim for Perron in EDM. Yak might have more potential, but he's a 1st overall, the value is higher. Perron will be a mid 30's g scorer with Malkin.

Martin is not going to fetch a legit YOUNG top 6. He has some control over his destination, he has a decently expensive cap hit, and the amount of teams looking for his services would be limited to legit contenders for the cup. teams like edm, wnpg, carolina, etc are not even worth mentioning in the same sentence. the other teams are all going to be close to the cap and we would have to take salary back. A williams for martin deal in terms of structure makes sense if thats the way the pens want to go (pens did lose their top 4 d-men last year!) If the pens want someone younger its gonna have to be a slight project player, or a player that is not quite top 6 yet but could be in the near future OR the pens think malkin and/or crosby make them a legit top 6. Dallas, LA, ANA, SAN Jose... possible targets. Only looking west coast as I HIGHLY doubt Martin is traded in conference. Perron might be pryable if EDM continues to Bomb and doesnt want to lose a best shot at a top 2-3 pick this year. maybe sutter and a 2nd does it. or sutter + despres.

If they are not trading Martin, i would rather see them go after Tlusty from Carolina. He would cost less (probably a prospect and a mid round pick), and has the ability to score 30+ with Malkin.

Can I get a source for the idea that the Kings and Penguins discussed a Martin trade at the draft?

Because I don't believe that came from the real media, believe it was blogger speculation.

Yeah but that level player and ability is the most reasonable target. Which would be great. I know nothing of Tlusty but Tlusty is a UFA, and Perron has a yr left but a million more.

I wonder how close that Neal for PAP and 23rd overall deal that Dater was talking about at the draft.

I wish that went down looking back now
but not you guys, hornqvist looks like a solid fit

Martin for Williams?

Trade perhaps the most clutch playoff performer in the game today for a soft minute-eating PMD?

Kings wouldn't even entertain this offer.

Martin for Dwight King + some picks is about the best the Pens could get from LA.

My two favorite targets are Frolik (WPG) and Tlusty (CAR) at the moment.

While its possible the Jets rebound or decide to not go into full rebuild mode via extending Frolik, the Hurricanes came into the season ready to throw the towl in & then J. Staal, E. Staal, and Skinner all went down with injuries.

A good NHL team would have a hard time dealing with losing three of its best players & Carolina is not a good team. Add in the Ward contract & I don't see how the Canes don't move Tulusty in an effort to rebuild for the future.

Still not sure what it would take to nab Tulusty or Frolik, though, assuming both teams are willing to deal them. Barring an extension, I don't think I would want to move a high prospect or a high draft pick for a pure rental.

Stewart or Stafford from Buffalo as plan Bs? They seem like they could be cheaper UFAs too as Sabres are in no position to be resigning some of those forwards with how bad they are tanking

Currently, there are a few, but you don't have to make a trade right away. Sometimes teams like to evaluate their roster before making large moves. You people tend to beleive that deals don't happen in November and December. It's either deadline, draft day, or training camp.

One injury changes everything. Dallas now down a D for the season. They have great forward depth.

Just be patient. He is here now, he might not be in January if Ehrhoff does sign an extension and teams come calling.

That was pretty self explanatory...

Most don't try to make a big trade right away, they look around, evaluate, and crunch numbers.

A team may have a defenseman injured for a season and want Martin for a cup run. Or to try and make the playoffs.

ehrhoff was rumored to want to sign an extension here as soon as legally possible.

Martin is here for now, so enjoy it.
