Duh, but how do you get rid of him? LNMC and doesn't want to leave. Tough situation.

I think Scuderi "sucking" has more to do with the fact that he plays for the Penguins than it does with him actually sucking. He's not the Scuderi he used to be, but he would certainly be fine on the Kings in a 3rd pairing role. I wouldn't be against taking him back, but the Kings don't have any cap space and aren't about to give up anyone worth $3.5M to get him, so it's pretty much a non-starter.

If the Jets are going to be losing Kane at some point this season, I highly doubt anyone else on the roster is available.

couldn't pens agree to keep the difference in salaries? maybe in return for a mid round pick as well. martin and a 7th keep 1.4 mil or whatever for williams and a third. seem fair?

Not sure, Williams is 33 and a rental. Not really interested in another mid 30's guy in the top 6 so re signing him would be out. I'd look younger if I were the Pens and someone with potential to stick around.
- sammy87

why would resigning him be out? even if he got a raise he would still make as much or less than martin and the caps going up.

Not a bad idea, I just don't like the fact of trading Williams has come up so early. The situation Of Voynov for the Kings SUCKS!

Martin scuds and pick for Sabourin Martinez and Gaborik
- nh4442

LoL dreaming in colours. No way Martin and pick will get you gaborik alone. This is typical for a pens fan.

Justin Williams is also worth more than Martin so the trade suggestion of what is possible doesn't even seem probable.

First off, he was joking, hence the at the end.

Second, I don't see how Williams is more valuable than Martin. Both are 33 and in the last year of their contracts. Williams is a good top 6 player, and Martin is a good top 4 defenseman. Their value is pretty equal.

Pretty much the definition of a hockey trade.

Have you seen a game this year (or last for that matter)? He can no longer play hockey at the NHL level. It's sad cause I was over the moon when we got him back.

Unfortunatley things that make sense don't usually happen in the NHL. I don't follow LA closely so I have no idea about who they have to step in if this suspension is long term or if his cap hit will count during the suspension. I haven't been overly impressed with Erhoff so I'm becoming a little more reluctant to trade Martin.

I knew this blog was coming when I heard the domestic abuse news.

I agree on Ehrhoff. Maybe my expectations were sky high on him but hes really just been okay so far. As of this moment, given Erhoff's play and the fact that hes not signed long-term (yet), it does make murky the water a bit.

I actually think the value of this trade is quite even. Would I prefer a younger winger with term, yes, but I don't see Martin being traded for that. Put Williams on Geno's line and drop Sutter or Duper down to the 3rd and the trickle effect is great.

I was thinking the same thing. He's kind of been invisible most of the time. Sometimes that's a good thing with a defenseman.

Lets say we had two trades on the table..which would you guys prefer?

Sutter + for Perron or Yakupov (definitely some variables in play regarding who isthe "plus" but just an example)

Martin for Williams

I choose the latter simply because I think defenseman for forward trade has always made the most sense.

Ehrhoff is being buried in the defensive zone much like Goc. He is the only defenseman under 50% and he's at 43%.

It is impacting his possession.

Trust the seasons of data you have on him, not these four games.

Perron is the best fit for the Penguins out of those options.

How many games would you say starts to give a more real impression of players stats wise? 20, 25, etc?
