Plek is old and soon to be UFA. I am not sold on Yakupov, but he is a former 1st overall pick (stuck on a bad team). The only problem is that the Oilers would never do that trade.

Yeah, let's trade our best center. Our most complete player on the team for a big maybe.

This makes a whole lot of sense !

it's not old but it's getting there. he's into the last year or two of his prime, most likely.

This. You trade the guy when he still has value. You don't wait before he is playing like Gionta.

Galchenyuk is a natural centre and they need to move somebody so he can play at his true position.

according to the Bruins thread the Seguin trade only looks bad if you consider Eriksson the key player coming back.

if not then it's ok.

The only players on the Habs I wouldn't trade for Yakupov are Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Subban and Price.

You also don't trade your most complete player after spending 2 years building a competitive team because you think he might get worse over the next few years.

Eller and Emelin for Eberle.

They have what they need. a 2nd line center with size and a top 4 Dman with size.

Oh it is a shame. But you can get out of your way if you can get a talent of Yakupov's caliber for a veteran soon on the decline.

But anyway it won't happen.

Come on... That doesn't come anywhere close to getting you Eberle. Add a 1st in and then maybe.

When people don't want to be contenders in the next three years but would rather in 10 years...

And I'm a Tremblay. I have a lot of those.
