Well first of all, I have not seen any evidence of a handshake agreement. Now that doesn't mean it didn't exist. I just haven't seen the evidence of it, and I doubt that there was one.

In the business of player contracts, there is no agreement until the contract is signed. And the agent works for the player. Not vice versa. If Carle wanted to accept a speculative handshake agreement with the Flyers, then all he has to do is tell the agent that's where he's going to sign. So knowing that, casts doubts on what you heard went down.

My speculation is that the Flyers who decided to go and chase after Suter and put Carle on the back burner, which led to Carle pursuing other offers.

Tagging space can be worked around to create room. And I beleive that was just the reason floated to the media to cover that the negotiations with Carle weren't finalized.

I'm sorry, but the tape can only be seen by me and Bradley. MJL and the rest of you will just have to take our words for it.

Fair enough. Do you have any video or audio evidence of Richards and Carter failing to participate in Dry Island?

What tangible evidence besides FBI-level recordings could exist of a handshake agreement?

Well Brad said he heard! That's pretty solid.

Well, he does have a degree of truculence to his game. I expect Calgary to be calling any second now.

Good for him... Sounds like he went down to the AHL with the idea of kicking ass and showing the Flyers he's ready.

My biggest issue with Grossmann was the decision to get his new deal signed before Carle's. There's been enough rumors that they had a deal for Carle similar to Coburn's and once Grossmann signed they couldn't do Carle's deal until the summer, as they lost the tagging space.

Then Wideman's deal happened in Calgary and there was not a chance to get Carle for less

- Jsaquella

The Flyers and Carle basically had a deal worked out, then the team decided to court Suter (whom they had no shot at getting but took their best shot) and told Carle to wait. At that point, they ended up with neither one.

On locker cleanout day 2012, Paul Holmgren flat out said they had an understanding with the Carle camp and it was for "below market value" of what Carle could get elsewhere.

Without tangible evidence of a verbal agreement, all conjecture and heresay...apparently.
