Not the coaches fault for the crappy play of our D on that goal.
Also, the puck never should have gotten to our end.

I think RC will lose his job at some point. I kinda feels sorry for him as he wants the same thing WE want.

He often talks about the compete and we need to want the puck more then the other team blah blah blah. But only the third line is playing RC hockey.

It's a joy watching the third line as they seem to have the passion, and willing to put out the energy it takes to outwork the opposition. We would have a much better team if we had more players to buy into the system.

We have a few guys who think they are STARS and don't want to get their nose dirty hemming the other team in their end.

I dont think we have the players to play a "compete" type of game.

But I think it is time for RC to leave soon.
Not sure any other coach would have gotten the leafs a better record so far...but clearly something is not working....and leafs wont be trading Kessel or Phaneuf anytime soon.

if you could only trade one of the two, and the return was an equally skilled player at the opposite position, who would you move?

Personally, I'd drive Phil Kessel to the airport myself.. And I'm the mother(frank)ing THRILL

Unfortunately, it's the coaches job to have the entire team prepared and ready to play.

They haven't played that great and are still winning...eerily similar to the Leafs last year
- Garnie

they haven't played great but they're still outplaying the opposition for the most part. schedule has been pretty soft so far aside from Tampa.

More and more I think it's shaping out that way. I think Carlyle is axed in another month or so, with Spotter filling in until season's end. Babs gets hired.

Nonis survives the season, but then gets axed as well, Shanny appoints himself GM and the new era officially begins.

This season seems to be the first year Shanahan can focus on this team night in and night out. It's very much an evaluation year, IMO

Unfortunately, it happens to be McDavid's draft year, but it is what it is

Opposite position... As in Defense.

Since Kessel is top 10 forwards in the league, take your pick of any of the top ten defensemen.

I'd make that trade for at least 5 of those players

What? No.

I shorten names when I type, big deal. Randy gets RC sometimes. It's not a nickname, it's me being lazy.

WTF was the point of this comment anyway?

EDIT: Or did you mean Spott? That's not my nickname, that's what everyone called him during that fiasco with Phil before the season started.

Either way, what does it matter?

Yes it is. Do you really honestly beleive RC doesn't do that? Do you think he only asks the third line to bust their ass and outwork the opposition. Does he say hey the rest of you guys just do what your doing. Dont waste your energy trying to get the puck back be rested so if we get the puck back somehow you have the energy to skate like hell for a pass and scoring opportunity.

Look at other teams and how they play compared to ours. I don't think it's because they are better coached, but because we have too many prima donnas on this team.

If we hired Babcock tomorrow nothing would change unless the players changed. The cliche though is you can't fire all the players so the coach will end up taking the fall.

I disagree.

But Babcock may be the best coach in hockey so....

I disagree.
They are professional players and adults...they shouldnt need the coach to get them ready.
Horrible excuse.
