Luke holds very little trade value right now. He's a FA after next season and has only had one 20 game stretch where he didn't look like a third pairing, defensive defenseman (lockout shortened season while playing with Kimmo).

Brayden Schenn's value is higher, but it's not going to bring back a Josi type player. He'd bring back a 3/4 defenseman.

I would interested to see what a team like Edmonton would be willing to offer for him. They need more help than us on the back line.

I know it is a long shot but they would probably get best value for Schenns in some kind of package deal.

They can do that themselves with better passing and positioning; this team is a bit lax in the fundamentals department.
- tangent_man

I just don't see that with the current pieces as is. I hate to pick on the guy, but l.schenn for example, it seems like every game he does/doesn't do something that leads to a goal against... If hextall could get just another guy on that blueline that doesn't have to be carried, and a winger for that top line with Jake and G, I really believe this team will be marketdly better.

I'm betting B. Schenn isn't even on the market.

I bet this was intentionally leaked to get him/the room going.

The Oilers completely overvalue their players. They were still waiting for Sam Gagner and Ales Hemsky to fully reach their potential last season.

Honestly I think he's a throw in at this point, they're gonna have to move the brother and something else, probably one of the prospects.

But in order to do that, he'll need to dip into the prospect/draft picks pool because the current roster isn't good enough value for straight up trades. Are you willing to part with a Laughton, Hagg, Ghost, Morin, Sanheim piece?

The thing is, you're not going to bring in talent in exchange for underachievers. Hextall wants to keep and develop the younger assets, and that's what it would take to bring in upgrades at this point.

I have a feeling what we're seeing now is basically what we'll be seeing most of the season, for better or for worse.

Then you might as well just kept Homer as your GM.

Honestly, I would rather trade B Schenn for picks and/or prospects than a 29 year old 2nd pairing defenseman.

That is true they do over value their players...one of the reasons why they are in their current state

Not really. Homer would over pay. Substantially. If hextall wants to move players who might help 3-4 years down the road, for players that help now AND the next 6-7 years I'm willing to consider it. Homer would trade those prospects for a guy that helps for the next 18 months and collects a check for 5 years.

I think we could get D help from Winnipeg for B Schenn

I agree with you. That would be the most beneficial thing if he's gonna be moved (and those are the only two choices).

Maybe, but if they sit out the playoffs, that's a huge chunk of revenue they're missing out on. They don't have squander the future either

They've played five games. In not one of those games have they've been completely dominated because of lack of skill.

The end result is what matters. May have skill but they have a lot of areas of concern. That first line left wing is a huge void, the fact that schenn MDZ combo basically spots the opposition 1 goal a game is another.

What's an over payment for Bogo?

B Schenn?

If they were to " upgrade" the D, my choice would be Myers but they are asking too much and probably wouldn't make a trade with Flyers.
I think Myers could use a change of scenery instead of wasting away in Buffalo

There was a rumor Detroit asked about Myers and Buffalo wanted Mantha+
