Giroux going to be old one day. Let's trade him for a bag of pucks while we still can.
- jmatchett383

Who said trade them for a bag of pucks? I said Deal them for improve elsewhere. LW is weak atm. D has a good amount of prospects that should be ready in 2-3 years. Hagg, Ghost, Morin and Sanheim will be up in lets say 2 years. Coburn is then 31 and looking for a new contract and a raise. We have Amac for 4 more years and Streit for 1. Coburn may not even want to come back. Trade him now and get assets. This team isn't going anywhere in the next 2 years. Coburn will demand the most value out of anyone.

Dangle away, but I'd want premium returns on Brayden Schenn & Coburn. The only reason to trade either of those two is because you'd get a better return than you would for Luke Schenn or Grossmann.

I doubt Vinny or Umberger are tradeable right now, unless you're willing to add other assets or eat sizeable chunks of their salaries.

- Jsaquella

I would want Bogo or Myers in return for a B Schenn.

The fastest way to not go anywhere is trade good players who have done nothing wrong other than being the age they are

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not giving up on this team. Season is 5 games old. Not looking to clean house. Make trades if it makes the team better. If it can be done without sacrificing youth. Or if youth is involved, get youth in return. But otherwise play on.

One thing I'd like to see Berube do is change up the d zone coverage scheme. This team just doesn't seem to play man to man well.

I thought for much of the game, the Flyers were about as good as they could be for the personnel they have.

Dallas made some plays on them that not every team is going to make. The good teams, yes, but not every team rolls out the forward lines the Stars do

Stars are a very fast and talented team up front. That Seguin line is a handful for any team. That being said, the same issues exist. At best in games the Flyers have been a good team 2/3rds of the time. Still too many mental errors in games.

Not true. Arguments can be made on both sides. How has building through the draft been treating Edmonton? It is all great and Dandy when the players turn out but you can go through years of drafting and not come out with anything.

In Fantasy land I would love to deal L.Schenn, Umberger and Vinny for good assets to improve the Flyers. Reality states that isn't going to happen. This team is a bubble team right now. We can keep the guys we have and continue to be a bubble team or work at completing the rebuild we started years ago.

I'm not overly interested in Myers. I'm only slightly more interested in Bogosian.

Not looking for specific names, but what kind of deal would you be looking for as a return for trading Coburn?

If they can turn Brayden Schenn and a 2nd into Evander Kane, it might be worthwhile.

I'm not sure I buy the "shopping Brayden Schenn" rumors anyhow.

I said over the summer that Seguin needed to do it twice to convince me that he was focused on hockey, and clearly he is

The PK just gave up goals to a lethal unit, Streit was awful on another, Erik Cole hustled and cashed one in...they were always going to get a little bloody in this one.

The good thing is that the offense did what needed to be done to get points, which is what it's going to look like sometimes with the roster configuration they currently have

Look at the Cole goal! Basic fundamental errors on the Flyers part led to that goal. Correctable errors that shouldn't be happening.

There are two sides. I acknowledge that. And if Coburn doesn't play well for the season/during the season, then fine. Move on.

But at some point, everyone has to acknowledge one thing: You trade Coburn today, you're going to be looking for a player just like him tomorrow

I'm looking for the Flyers to work on getting the LW replenished with Talent and some more D prospects couldn't hurt. It isn't in the Flyers best interest to grab a 30 year old Winger. I'm looking for a guy who'd be ready to play with Giroux on the top LW in the next 2-4 years. Right now I only see 2-3 LW prospects that can potentially even make the NHL nevermind be a top 6 or top Line guy

We think they SHOULD be correctable, but sometimes, players are what they are. If you make the same "mistake" repeatedly, it is more likely that either you simply don't understand how to do it properly, don't have the physical ability to do it properly, or don't recognize what is happening so you can do it properly

Not if Morin, Sanheim, Ghost and Hagg pan out. I could see Morin being a guy who develops into a #2 guy. Ghost is a guy who can be a #1 if he develops his defensive game better, if not he'll become a Del Zotto.

I think the Should part has sailed. Same issues as last season with Same personnel. Many of these guys are in their prime and are not going to get better.

I would not trade a defenseman for a LW. The Flyers can replenish the forward prospect pool without trading a player like Coburn.

So you don't believe that a veteran player who is in a period of poor play, can turn that around and play better?

I'm as excited about the young defensemen as anyone, and I would've kept Morin up for 9 games.

But I'll be the first to admit this: Potential means nothing until these guys do it. Trading Coburn today based on what they might do tomorrow -- yeah, you can do that.

But Steve Mason's carrying a .865 SVPCT right now. As in, today. And as much as I hope that the young players get here and dominate, they aren't doing it today or tomorrow, and making the playoffs this year is EQUALLY -- not more than, not less than -- important to me

I don't see Gostisbehere ever becoming a #1 defenseman. And you need some veterans in support.
