I don't want the Leafs to trade Gardiner but if he helps us get a player like Eberle I am for it. The play of Stu Percy has made him expendable IMO

We have matt finn too in the ranks... im not worried about losing gardiner if he can be packaged to get a guy like eberle, staal, etc

I'm not sure that MacT (and especially KLowe) have given up on the plan (dream) of duplicating the 80s inwhich you draft 5 or 6 wunderkids and let them grow together, and march to a Cup. They still believe sticking to their core of 6 can't fail.

Me, I think at least 2 of the wunderkids need to be shipped out for more rugged players along the lines of Kelser, Backes or Mike Richards. This pretty danglers gotta go.

Far deeper than this.

But it might help, if they go after a coach with a drastically different philosophy. Like not just a few ideas or another retread failure, but defence, defence, defence. Stifle every piece of the ice both offensively and defensively. Focus on limiting mistakes first, instead of pushing the play.
Can always loosen the reigns when the kids get used to what's important in this league first.

Eakins actually had the boys concentrating on this last night. Played a solid game defensively, and didn't open it up much. Of course they made that one error that cost the game, but it was a quality defensive game overall by us.
