So about 18+++ hits a game, and more shots then Ovie? I can't be reading this right. Oh wait, yes I am......

and not being on the Sabres might help with that...... maybe.......

- Herzeleid

1 or 2 nice hits a shift is not too much to ask from any hockey player, since not all hits are counted on the stat-line. Sorry that I expect a hockey player to be physical?

More shots than Ovechkin? Well, one is a forward and scores like 60 goals a year and one is a defenseman and scores like 10 goals a year. How on earth are you drawing a comparison between the two to further your argument? Which is really rather weak to begin with, whether I'm wrong or not.

Besides, Ovechkin shoots like 86 times per game. And aside from his back-checking, I don't find very many things to nit-pick when a guy plays hard, hits, shoots and scores. And a LW is pretty much the least-defensively responsible player on the ice at all times.

And Myers just basically needs to be the best player in the NHL to reach said standards?
- Herzeleid

Myers is playing well but is not justifying his TOI.
In 5 games, zero points.

As a team we have 7 goals.

So he should have a point or 2, ok fair enough

Alex Ovechkin (NHL's leading goal scorer) who is a forward averaged 4.94 shots per game last season.

So what you are saying is that the expectations for our defensemen should be to exceed that.

Basically, you will never be happy with his play. Which is fine you are entitled to your opinion. Now I know not to waste time debating it

- sbroads24

Well, there's that.

I just see no reason why a 6'8" guy who plays the point on every powerplay, can't shoot that many times per game but its more a personal gripe with modern hockey players than anything. I'm calling it like I see it and I still don't know why you're pulling Ovechkin's stats up to counter-argue why I think a guy who is the size of an NBA player should be dominant in a sport where he's half a foot taller than most players. So by that logic, Shaq shouldn't have been dominant because he was gigantic, he should have just been there every now and then and never use his size to his advantage and his coaches should have been happy with it.

You're asking me how? You said it your self. One is a 60 goal scoring forward and one is a defenseman. You want said defenseman to have more shots than the 60 goal scoring forward (and pretty much anyone else in the league).

If he is our most skilled player on the team it is his responsibility to get shots to the net and at the very least create those scoring chances. On a team where no one is stepping up and no one wants to be that guy, by default, I think our most skilled player should be the one to fill that void and until there is a more skilled player on the ice it should be his responsibility. He got 4 shots on net tonight. My argument is supported by a stat line that you and a couple other people have pulled up repeatedly to argue against my logic. If he got 4 shots on goal tonight then yes, he absolutely should be getting at least 4 shots on net per night, if not more, in order to generate scoring chances on a team where the other players refuse to step-up and take that responsibility, on a team that cannot score, let alone put shots on net. This isn't about scoring 60 goals per season, it is about generating scoring chances and doing your job because you get paid millions of dollars to do it, so stop making excuses for rich brats being lazy.

Your last sentence tells me all I need to know.

You hate the rich brat skilled players, and love the no talent grinders like Weber or McCormick because of their "heart"

You probably couldn't stand Miller, hated Pominville and Vanek and loved Steve Ott

Which is the plan...the disaster of the 2014-2015 Buffalo Sabres and every single night when anyone volunatraily consumes Fireball.

It's a win win.

As far as Myers playing the point and needing to have more than 4 shots on goal per game lets break it down:

Ovi lead the league in shots last season at 382 total shots almost 5 per game. (he plays almost all 2 minutes of the PP)

The highest shot total for a D was #15 overall Erik Karlsson who had 129 LESS shots than Ovi.

Do you know who lead the Sabres in shots last year? Tyler Ennis, 210 shots good for 54th in the league.

Again, this word hate is being thrown around simply because I'm not happy with one of our top-paid players being a bum.

Miller was a head-case and average at best and I would have kept Biron over him any day of the week, and Vanek was a lazy wanker who blew his money on cigarettes and lottery tickets every paycheck (yes, I know this for a fact) not to mention a compulsive gambler.

Much like Stu Barnes back in the day, Pominville shouldn't have been traded, not only because he was our captain but because he is a skilled player who does what is/was expected of him while being defensively responsible and Steve Ott being our Captain was an embarrassment much like the fans who actively support a tank and have wet dreams over getting some doofus dork 18 year old in next years draft. You are just as bad as the bandwagon fans of the Penguins and Blackhawks, thinking that a purposeful tank for a skilled player is more important to winning a championship all the while refusing to believe in internal politics and favoritism. Edmonton Oilers, anyone? And don't bring up the Dynasty team, please. Its the equivalent of a Leafs fan bragging about their Stanley Cup teams from 900 years ago in a 6 team league. Face it, until the city of Buffalo becomes an economic powerhouse like Chicago and Pittsburgh in a modern age when money talks then we won't win any championship in any major sport unless its earned with heart and soul, not tanking for a player who is being manipulated since a scout decided to blow his load all over him.

And for those who honestly believe that there isn't favoritism in play in any sports league in this day in age is naive and ignorant to just how corrupt our system is from the top down. And don't respond by saying I think its all fixed, because that's not even close to what I'm saying.

Do I think the Bills 4 superbowl runs were fixed or thrown? No, but I find it hard to believe that an underdog team from little old Buffalo goes to 4 straight and loses to the New York Football Giants (The richest city in the country and the economic center of the world), the Washington D.C. Football team (Go figure, our racist Capital city football team) and "America's team" the Dallas Cowboys just by blowing it every time. I don't care how many stories I heard about the partying they did, because the other teams were doing the same thing and interests laid in where the money was, not in a dying city that somehow made an historic run not seen since in any sport (until the recent Miami Heat run).

Oh and Cody McCormick? I'd rather see a guy who sucks nearly in tears he's so emotionally worked up after a loss than a guy who shrugs and defers blame and dodges eye contact.

Can't wait for your argument saying not everyone is good in front of the media or a camera or some people control their emotions better than others.

Okay I'll bite. Explain to me then how The Seattle Seahawks won last year by BLOWING out the team most wanted to win? Or the fact that the Kansas City Royals are in the World Series and not the Derek Jeter lead NYY who didn't even make the playoffs in his last season none the less. How about the LA Kings winning the Stanley Cup when everyone knows LA is the second worst sports city behind Miami.

This sounds like something that is more for a conspiracy website.

By the way you called Myers a bum said he was outplayed by Mike freaking Weber....Weber hasn't been playing nearly as awful as last season but Myers has been by far the Sabres best player so far in this short season. But since you're Mike Schopp you don't need to watch games to realize that you just look at a stat sheet.

My lord it's going to be a LONG franking season

A post that didn't take it personal, what!

I get it, I said Tyler Myers should have 5 shots a game but like I said, he is our most skilled player and in my eyes, that player should lead the team in the most important stats, regardless of his position. If he isn't hitting and physical (apparently he isn't and shouldn't be according to some), if he isn't blocking shots, if he isn't a bottom 4 defenseman, but, according to most pundits, an OFFENSIVE Defenseman who is supposed to and also is, according to some, leading the rush all the while being athletically gifted and highly skilled then he damn well should be our best player on the stat sheet most nights. He doesn't have to score 30g/40a but he should be shooting it between 3 - 5 times a night and he should be scoring and if he isn't doing that then he should be doing something else.

Um. I've watched the games so far this season and rarely, if ever, look at stat sheets. All I said was Myers is a bum and needs to shoot more and everyone and their brother started pulling stats our of their arses. And yes, Mike freaking Weber has looked better than Myers so far simply because he is doing a competent job doing what is expected of him in his role and Myers, well, isn't.

How do they know the universe is expanding? Could it be possible that instead, the universe is maintaining a constant size and that all matter is shrinking? That would explain why all the galaxies appear to be moving apart from each other. From the perspective of someone stuck on a piece of that matter. They wouldn't know they are shrinking, they would think space is expanding.

What if it wasn't a big bang, or rapid expansion, but rather a big crunch or sudden collapse and continuous compaction of matter?

So how is Zadorov's 9 game tryout kind of hard to evalute someone when ther'e not playing and speaking of tryout why not give Reinhart some pp minute i know he has not earnd it but niether has the other players on the roster.
