Yak will go to NYI.

"There is little doubt now that Yakupov is going to be moved, " a trusted source texted me...and he may be looking at a rather ironic landing spot....Columbus. Stay tuned there...the Devils and Islanders are also big on Yakupov.

Before I post let me just say I don't believe this for a second. With that said I'll say IF this were to happen it'll involve Reinhart going back to Edmonton.

When the team is out of the playoff race next week they will definitely move someone like Yakupov to fill holes. We need defense and strong centres that can actually play centre, not more small, defensively brain dead forwards.
- OilersFan1985

No.

However, agreed about the centres. But, if you were an actual Oilers fan, you'll realize that we have the players coming in that will be better than Arco.

Only way i see isles going after Yakupov is if Grabovski is out for a long time.. Which i dont think he will be...
- BOSSY50_50

Meh. Don't believe that "he doesn't have a concussion" hype. Even if he does Grabner is coming back soon and Lee can be called up. We have the depth.

Getting knocked out is usually a pretty serious issue.

Oilers are a bad organization.

Vokoun to the Avs? Why am I thinking the Varly/Berra injuries are more long term than we are being lead to believe?

- dan_77

The Avs recalled Aittokallio from Lake Erie so it looks like we'll be going into our next couple games with Pickard and Aittokallio in between the pipes. This definitely isn't the start I was expecting the Avs to have this season...

Agreed. He won't be back for a while. If he is I'll be shocked.

I don't think any of those centres coming up will be here for another 2 seasons or so. Yakimov looked bad when he played, granted it was only one game, but being an NHL centre is tough.

Yakupov or not, If they continue losing like this, I see one of the kids being traded. Hall is't going anywhere, neither is RNH. Eberle could be our best all around out of the kids and would retrieve the best return, but they know that deal could be a losing one. Schultz is still consider the best d-man in the entire world in the eyes of management. I think that leaves Yakupov.

Once management realizes they need to trade something of value to get something of value then it'll happen. But even then, Yakupov alone doesn't have much value.

It might take a couple weeks before concussions symptoms really begin. I've been in a very similar position before from playing football. It's terrible.

The idea of trading Yak is stupid. Since J. Schultz can't play defence why not experiment with him as a winger and then move a current winger like a Eberle or Purcell for a veeteran 2C? Maybe without Schultz taking up minutes on D actual defenders like Petry and Marincin could crack the lineup...

Because Dallas Eakins thought it would be smart to make the 18 year old 1st overall scoring star the only forward on the team defensively responsible.
- 1979AD

Why does Dallas Eakins get so much hate? The Oiler's problems stem from the FO, very few of the on ice issues are his fault.

You guys have to do something though. I'm not trying to be a Richard but holy poop the fact the oilers still can't put together a good hockey game after drafting so high for so many years, and having so many assets to build a team around/with is mind blowing.

I know mctavish hasn't had a lot of time yet, but unfortunately he inherited the length of time that cloud has been hanging over the team. At this point there's so much to work with, a semi-knowledgable hockey fan should be able to be GM and ice a competitive team.

MacT did make moves. The problem is Eakin's systems and terrible goaltending to start the season.

For instance, Eakin's didn't use TC properly to make sure the team was clicking and executing the way they should. Instead it was used as a "show-case" for a number of rookies.

I just cannot see the Isles making another deal at this point and especially a big deal. I think they want to keep the team as in right now.

So yak isn't getting traded and you want a 2nd Line center AND a Stud dman.... So you're trading Hall and Eberle then?

Ya well that's part of icing a competitive team, fire Eakins.

They've got to make a significant move too in my opinion, if for no other reason than to make a statement. It's gotten far past ridiculous at this point.

Making a veteran winger play centre doesn't automatically make him a veteran centre.

If anyone has the balls to take a chance on a player like Yak and give up the package EDM would be looking for - it's Garth.

Columbus was the worst team in the NHL that year, but the Oilers won the draft lottery, jumping ahead of the Blue Jackets.
