That's going to have to be a very big +

Have you seen Schultz play? I'd be willing to pay that big +

ok, continue sucking then. and enjoy paying Yaks, he's going to be asking where his 7 year x $6 mil contract is. Everyone else got one, but you don't have the cap to keep all that money tied up in this core of losers.

Something's gotta give, and one of those guys will have to go sooner or later.

Yeah, cause Michalek, Domi and another 18 yr old are what's gonna fix the Oilers

Maybe Yakupov and this year's 1st. OEL is that good.
- 1979AD

If I'm Zona still not enough, unless it is late season and Zona is out of the playoffs AND the Edm pick is early lottery pick. Even then IF I was Zona I wouldn't make the deal. They could spend the next 10 years trying to replace a franchise d-man like OEL.

Is it laughy in terms of value? No

Why would we use an asset to get a 31/32 year old Dman, a mid first round pick which could turn to nothing, and a very good prospect which... could also be nothing.

Why wouldn't we take yakupov, add our first and get something we need?

Because your team is desperately in need of legitimate NHL defense would be a start.

what?

That guy doesn't know anything about the Oil... if Yak's gonna want to leave AZ when he lands, it's most likely cause he'll fear for the safety of his Muslim ass

That 1st rounder could be a top 5 Pick

maybe even top 2.....

Really not what the Oil needs... unless it's to become a trade chip FOR A 1D or REALLY SOLID 2C

If you think a legit top 4 D, 1st round pick in the deepest draft in years, and another first round fwd prospect is a 5 laughy offer for Yakupov, you have problems.
- 1979AD

It's not about value, it's about need. The Oil don't need another 3-4 D man, and they don't need another forward prospect. They're not going to give up a great asset for square pegs to fit their round holes.

We all know that. Thank you. It's trying to state what the Oilers would be looking for.
- ChetManly

Well then Edm needs to look elsewhere IMO. Yakupov isn't going to net one of the best young d-man in the game. Not with continuing questions surround Yak and even if he continues to erase those questions with his improved play it will take ALOT more to net you a young franchise d-man like OEL.

Would you want the Leafs to trade Kadri for a bunch of guys that may or may not be good enough to fill the holes on your team?

The way I see it, Michalek would help provide some defensive stability to the D, Domi would replace the young scoring winger (potentially), and the extra 1st would give them the chance of drafting that #1 D they're not going to be able to acquire short of moving Hall. Not ideal or an immediate solution, but definitely not worthy of 5 laughies.

Then I'm glad you're not running the Oil

also, Domi replaces Yak as a scoring winger? now that's worth

How about just no. If Edmonton is sending away Yakupov, it'll be for a very solid return, think of OEL.

It's already been discussed that trading away Yakupov (our second best player behind Hall this season) would be stupid. If anything Eberle would be the one available (which saddens me as I love Ebs).

- ChetManly

Oel would cost you more than yak.

they wouldn't trade oel for anything less than hall. even then I doubt it.
both are probably top ten at their position (defence-any wing) but defenders generally carry abit more value.
and zero chance they consider oel/yaks

also, id wager that it's yakupov that goes.
the oiler boards have lit up with eberle hate recently, and how good yaks has been. but imo, total exaggeration. certainly better than his abysmal second year which is nice to see. good in spots, but FAR from dominant. he still seems abit confused at times.

and at present eberle is still the better player even if he did have a weak preseason. (he was better than yaks against Arizona imo)

but none of this really matters. what matters, and the reason I think if either go itll be yaks, is because coaching feels the same way imo. yaks deployment, ice time etc, all in relation to ebs, absolutely suggest they covet eberle more.
and in my opinion, rightly so

Here we go again. You guys are terrible but still over value your players and are afraid to move anyof your kids for possible improvement in another area. So Yak looks better. How many points has he put up this year? How many goal has he prevented in those massive one sided losses? How many games has he helps win? If there is respect trad out there for him, you should move him. Now.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the offer would be less than even the econdary tanner offer involving yandle.

take out the second. maybe even Samuelsson. (who seals the deal in my opinion)
like just yandle and a 2nd.

I dunno.
gms aren't nearly as reactionary as fans and don't start proclaiming a guy in a sophomore slump 20 games out of leading rookies in goals and points is now suddenly worthless. they see the big picture. or at least its part of their job. but Arizona would also know its abit of a panic move and try and dominate the negotiations...
but a yak that reaches even near his potential puts azzes in the seats too.....

I'd put Yakupov's trade value as slightly less than Seguin's as a Bruin.

Both packages in the blog seem to be in the right ballpark.

Done deal.
