Take an extra oxy. It'll be more entertaining.

Hope you're OK.

They might if they were on the cusp of a playoff run. Say they needed Coburn to really solidfy the d for the playoffs he could get thier first. But I would agree if they are in same boat as us

I have to admit, I never understood the disdain Peter Laviolette appeared to have in practicing it.

He was the coach, and I'm just a fan. But I guess I'm one of those people where if something keeps biting me in the ass, I'd do something to try to make it stop.

It's simple. Hockey "lifers" just totally hate and disrespect it.

IMO, they do that at their own peril. Regardless of one's opinion of the shootout, it's part of the regular season and it DOES impact your ability to make the playoffs.

per CSNPhilly:
Shootouts
For the second day in succession, the Flyers devoted a decent portion of their practice to shootouts. Their last two losses to Montreal and Anaheim were via the shootout.

Just thought the shootout people would like. See they are practicing

To boost the shooters confidence..... They should get a goaltender from the Comcast squirts, perhaps they can put a few behind him.

And to boost the goaltenders confidence, Berube should take breakaways against them. He couldn't score in a whorehouse with a fist full of hundreds!

I wonder what Toronto would do if Carolina said, "Eric Staal will play for you, so we'll trade him to you. For Tyler Bozak and your 2015 first-rounder."

Do they do it?

- AllInForFlyers

If Toronto wants Staal I am asking for more then Bozak. I would ask for the 1st and some prospects. Biggs, Gauthier, Nylander would be my starting points. Carolina needs a lot to run it around.

Didn't say they were. Just that would be the reason they would give it up. We have no clue who will make it. Only 4 games in

Agreed -- I don't lose my mind over it as a general rule, but how do you look your GM in the eye if you miss the playoffs by a point or two, are miserable in shootouts and lose a majority of them, and don't practice them?

To me, that's a firing offense. Not for missing the playoffs, but not giving yourself the best opportunity to earn points. But again, that's just me.

It's like Bill Belichick and extra points. He hates them and thinks they shouldn't be in the NFL anymore.

But I'll bet you a paycheck that the Patriots practice them.

An extra point in the NFL is like shooting fish in a barrel. There has only been a total of 3 extra points missed this year so far.

Not sure why. It's not like it gives any team an advantage, or disadvantage. It's a given for everyone.

I hear you; his rationale was that because it almost an automatic, it either needs to be more difficult or removed from the game, because it's a "nothing" play. I'm pretty sure that's the word he used.

In the preseason they moved the extra point spot 10 yards back making it more than just a chip shot. I have no idea why they moved it back up for the regular season. They should have left it back it would have made things a lot more interesting.

I guess that makes sense. I know there was talk about making the extra points 35 yards. If they did that, I don't think there would be a huge difference in %. These kickers are ridiculously accurate.

The one rule that has to change is they must move back kickoffs. I know they want to limit high speed collisions, but this is NFL football, not knitting class. I'm so sick of watching these kickers blast the ball through the end zone. To me, kickoff returns are one of the most exciting plays in football.

That and the ridiculous increase in ticky-tack penalties being called is really sucking all joy out of watching the games. The refs have waayyy too much control over the games.

Nope. Marincin and Klefbom are damned good. They're much worse off in the middle.
