If I was going to guess it will be Colin McDonald on Saturday not lee.

Since it's vs the pens (the team that never gave hima shot) i don't mind that move. He actually going to play his butt off giving it may only be one of few games he going to play this year.

I would give him one game. He doesn't show up then back of the starting roster again.

I would prob move clutterbuck to grabos spot and drop MacDonald to 4th line.

- Spartiarti

I think it will be McD too .. mainly b/c they don't want to have to send Lee down again.... when they call him up next time it should be forever...

What does everyone think of Strome's play?

I think hes been great. Bad penalty last night but it was embellished and pretty weak.

Dehaan was very very good tonight.

Yup he definitely looked good. Loved that the crowd was loud and into the game. Got to keep it up!!!

Last year there is 7000 people there. Just got back from the game and the place was rocking!!
- Vukota

I agree. I was at the game and I thought it was sold out! Despite that there were empty seats but still with the spirit and loudness, you would think it was sold out. I can feel that it will be a spectacular and special year for Islanders and fans all. The team has something special and we all know it. I know that it is only four games so far but I can see it in those players. I know that Islanders could have beat Sharks easily. Shalock actually made good saves and we could have gotten ten goals if it was not for him. I was impressed with Bailey (I know I know he can be really good but haven't showed it for years). Tavares what can I say about him? He is a beast. I am glad that De Haan is back. I can see that he is rusty but his appearance is needed. I don't know about you but I like Conacher. He might be a small player but he got speed. I can imagine how they could pair him with Grabner!Let's go Islanders!

They have to keep this going. Going to be a tough one against the pens on saturday. They dropped their game yesterday but its nice to have some confidence going into that game. They beat them and they will have some big crowds in the coli and there will be few non believers left. Lets go islanders!!!!

But they're lining the streets in Brooklyn? The Russian community in Brighton beach will embrace them? lol. Love hearing this BS on this site like Brooklyn is some huge hockey market...............That doesn't mean there aren't hockey fans on LI. That's completely, totally false.
- Cptmjl

There are plenty of good hockey fans....Islanders fans...on Long Island- not only there- there are like five of us just in the small development where I live in NJ. My only argument about Brooklyn is the proximity to public transit, which will make it easier for more people coming from more places to get there. It doesn't really have all that much to do with Brooklyn itself, at all....other than the increase in publicity that the city will provide.

That said, regarding another issue, I saw a comment in regards to our move on one of the between periods segments from Hannan of SJ, talking about what a piece of absolute sh*t the Coliseum is, especially for the visitors. Just from what he said, I am truly starting to believe that Garth wasn't just squeezing sour grapes in regards to FAs not coming here at least in part due to the building. It's just time to go- just a shame that Dry Humpstead and Nassau couldn't get their act together.

No joke - that was a hell of a hit. I'm a large man but there is no way I want Scott blindsiding me.
- JimmyP

I haven't had a chance to read everything said here, but to me that was a clean hit- the dude can't help that he's 6'7", or whatever. That's what happens when you admire your shoelaces while you're skating...it's hockey. Hopefully, the man will be OK, and good to go in a few days.

Attendance tonight per ESPN was 11,248...
- kear20

As we said....10-12K....that's actually a good crowd for a Tuesday at this time of year, especially for a Western Conference opponent. 5K solid more than we'd have seen there five years ago.

Players his size generally HAVE TO be faster than everyone else, and he pretty much is. Good find if he can keep it up.

He's scrappy too. He knows what he has to do to stay in the lineup and keep getting minutes with JT. I admit I was extremely skeptical but up to this point I have no complaints.

Don't know about you guys, but to me that was by far the best game all year. Just outstanding that they can now go toe to toe with the likes of San Jose for 60 minutes, and not have it feel like they're playing the greatest game of their entire lives.

The only thing that disappointed me was the third San Jose goal- may have been offside as Butch was saying, but watching it this morning, I don't think so. It was typical of our defense for the last couple of years, and it's the one thing that will need correcting if they are to keep having success. Leddy took the wrong angle (like a bad CB trying to cover a receiver who is already behind him- instead of just allowing him to take the pass, getting in front of him and pushing him to the wall, he basically went for the interception and missed the boat), and Halak was apparently having a nap- he's given up a few this year so far that he probably should have stopped...I'm assuming that will get better as we go along. That said, and again I'm not big on the specific game plan details, but someone probably should have been behind Leddy in the middle of the ice somewhere.

If you're going to push forward, you have to be able to anticipate when the play is about to go horribly wrong, or else as a defenseman, you should stay behind the play in the first place. If they learn how to anticipate better than the guys we had last year, we might be scary good. Teams may once again dread that "gallows walk" from the hotel to the building.

We have upgraded almost everywhere except Howie................my personal opinion is the guy is and has always been a waste........and a ranger fan on top of it. I would love to see someone else in his place!
- islesrbettr

This arguement has become so tiring. The guy is one of the best in the game and if you don't think this guy is fully invested in the Islanders you need to go listen to his WFAN interviews

Agreed- anyone with even a little bit of offensive talent is going to have success with JT- this guy seems to be better than that, and as you say, he appears to be a general PITA to play against.

Yeah....watch the Devils game for about 15 minutes...then you'll learn the difference between a big time announcer and one who is just adequate. Howie Rose is an outstanding hockey announcer, right up there with anyone else you can think of who is a classic in that regard.

As an aside, the one guy I miss doing hockey is Gary Thorne....he's now the announcer for the Orioles during the entire baseball season, but I hope he comes back one day as one of the national announcers...he has that great hockey voice that makes the game even more exciting than it already is.

It's true and you're right. The coliseum to an outside player looking in is pitiful. They don't have anything to compete with new, state of the art facilities.
As a fan, I love the coliseum. And, not just because I grew up there and have made my own memories there. I love it because people are there to watch the game. Today's arenas are built for are filled by the ADD population. Everyone is playing with their phones or on line at some new steak sandwich stand and not watching the game. Look at what baseball has become in NY. People stand on line for 3 innings to get the new whatever. None of these places have that old, loud, rocking vibe like the coliseum has.
Very few players play for a team because of their history anymore. There is way too much money thrown around today for a player to have team history as the deal breaker. If a team wins, they'll come. Nice facility, they'll enjoy coming. Adored by the fans and not ridiculed for every move, they'll be happy while they're there.

I'd rather Lee but I think you're right. I don't like Clutterbuck on that line. That line was moving the puck and cycling. Clutterbuck is not that kind of player and I feel it will stop the flow they had. Lee deserves a look IMO though I don't think it'll happen.

Besides, don't they have to waive or send someone down if they bring Lee up?

Im not one of the people condemning the move to brooklyn. That wasnt the point of my post. It just drives me crazy when people say there's no fan base on long island. Its completely false.

Absolutely! Isles fans have been starving for anything to cheer about. The fact that they fielded an AHL roster for so many years is what kept some away.

Moving up kulemin is the obvious choice and clutter to the third line with mcdonald on the fourth. I dont think so as far as having to waive someone? Mcdonald would just sit in the press box where he belongs till he proves otherwise when there's another injury.

I love the move to Brooklyn, but Isles fan on LI get a bad rap. Wang and co have done little until this offseason to improve the team.

I dont love it but im not condemning it. The other options were far worse of course. Id much rather they play on long island. There is a hockey market here and anyone who doesnt think so is flat out wrong. Period. This is new york. Nobody and I mean nobody in ny will go to watch a loser and spend their hard earned money. Especially a team that perfected the art of losing for more than 20 years on top of all the other shat they did to make themselves the laughing stock of the nhl. I don't care if you're the rangers or the islanders. That garden was empty in the late nineties and mid eighties. You couldn't get a ticket to an islander game in the late seventies and eighties. They were the hottest ticket in the NHL. Fact. You put a competitive team on the ice they'd be sold out every night.

I know that's a hard concept for some but its the truth. You'll see it this season if this team keeps playing the way they are. This isn't Edmonton or Toronto where people will fork over cash to watch garbage. Look at the pens, Chicago when they were rebuilding. You could hear crickets in their arenas. Those crowds made a home panther game look like a sell out. Is anyone here going to tell me Pittsburgh and Chicago aren't good hockey markets? Again, this post isn't saying I hate them moving to Brooklyn its more to say lets stop with the long island couldn't support a team BS. Its more along the lines of the team couldn't support long island or its fans and the politicians did everything they could to fack up what could have been a very good thing for the team, surrounding community, and all of Long Island in general.

This! Ownership shows they are committed to winning and the team wins and the fans will show. This is not like the team had one or two down years. It's been mostly very bad years. Wang could have shown he was interested in winning without having a huge payroll. I just cannot get on Isles fans or any other fans when the team has been this bad and ownership has shown little care in winning.
