imo, they should've just sent him down immediately, would have saved everyone from this discussion

I'd see if he could play over in Europe honestly.

At least he'd be playing in a more competitive league for him.

That scene was twice as long as it should have been though. It just reeked of writers wanting to be different.

Opinions vary.

Reading it in text with descriptions of Bunk and McNulty is awesome IMO.

I've said to my friends many times that Girgensons should go Brazilian soccer player style and have ZEMGUS on the back of his jersey. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I'd also like to request that from here on out ZEMGUS should always be typed in all caps because anything else would be an insult to the one who eats lions.

Reinhart should've been back in juniors from the get go. Like somebody else said he doesn't look completely lost out there so he definitely has the skill, IQ, etc. to play in the NHL right now but physically he's not close. Send him back before he gets hurt.

As recently as last winter I would've been all over the Trade Myers Train but since Nolan took over he's looked better pretty much every game. Given his age and the trajectory he's on I don't see how they can trade him right now. You build championship teams from the back out and with each passing day Myers is looking more and more like he'll be an elite defenseman within the next few years or at the very least a legit top-pairing guy. Unless they're getting a can't miss franchise player in return (and possibly more) it would be stupid to move him.

But is it really a Nolan thing, or a non-Rolston/Ruff thing? For years this team has been handcuffed by coaches not letting players be themselves.

Larsson is the perfect example of being the middle child of the organization. This kid deserves a chance, i understand the injury. Watching both merks games this weekend i feel that because his game lacks flair or a high first draft selection he gets overlooked. Smart player that wont win you a game but at the same time won't lose it for you(kinda what we need).

And for Sam i do feel he has over stayed his juniors days and should stay BUT if he's going to be our 4c (which i dont think he should be) just send him back and let him play for canada with/ against some high level talent for the holidays

dead story to me. maybe the two teams will revisit it later on in the season but I doubt the price will have changed.

Can I merge into this comment how right I was about Sekera? If only we couldve offloaded Ehrhoff and kept Sekera.
- theblueandgold

Ugh no way. Sekera was awful. I mean, I can't think of too many players who have been good over the last few years, like, really good, but he was one of my most hated. Good riddance.

Well whatever the reason was whether it's Nolan or a change in diet or finally getting over the loss of his pet rabbit Mr. Sniffles from what I've seen the timing of Myers' turnaround coincided with Nolan taking over as coach. I didn't mean to imply that it's completely because of Nolan (though I do think he at least played a part in it). I was mainly just using it as a reference point.

Sekera was "awful" only because you hated him, for whatever reason. In reality, he was our best defensemen handcuffed with terrible partners and a limited role. I sure hope Compher turns out to be a stud.

Myers started to look the part on the west coast trip right before Rolston was fired.

However that was around the time the whole team tuned him out and did what they wanted anyways

I stuck up for him for a good 2-3 years too. He was always one of the better 2-4 guys around IMO.

I think it's a Nolan thing, but there are other coaches like Nolan. Basically, Nolan came in and told Myers, "Do what got you to the NHL in the first place." For Myers, that was carrying the puck up ice and using his great skating and offensive tools.

Ruff allowed Myers to do that his first year, but then gave him more defensive responsibility which seemed to handcuff him. That in turn killed his confidence and then he second guessed everything he did. I think Nolan coming in and telling him to go back to the basics that got him there helped.

Too many coaches these days try to jam a square peg into a round hole. If a guy isn't good at something, then don't try to force them to become the best at it. It's not going to happen

He did have some of the worst giveaways in the history of ever... I know, hyperbole. But damn if you can't remember those moronic cross ice passes that "always" got knocked down by the opposition and in on net all alone than I don't know what to tell you.

My main issue with Sekera was his play in the offensive zone, not the defensive zone. He had a bad tendency of getting the puck and holding onto it at the point too long, then deciding he was going to shoot after a defender got in the shooting lane.

Really in the scheme of things, it was a small issue. But it drove me crazy. I still didn't think he needed to be traded, though if Compher turns out the way he's projected, it will have been a good trade for both teams.
