Unless they completely fail to turn things around in the next 10-20 games-and I basically mean turn into Edmonton or something-I think he's safe for the entire season.

The only way I think Berube gets fired in season is if they have some kind of epic run of horrid play-like go 0-13-2 or something to start the season. I think Hextall knew this could be a down year and despite my criticism and not really being a fan of Berube, I can't see another coach coming in and doing much better.

- Jsaquella

This roster "is what it is". I don't think another coach comes in and sprinkles pixie dust and makes everything right.

Berube is fine. He'll instill work ethic, skating, blah, blah, blah.

When the talent is in place, maybe then you move onto a different coach. For the stage of development for this roster, Berube is fine.

Agree, but I think they are shopping for a coach at the end of the season...I don't think Hexy will stick with the Chief experiment long term.

That is certainly a possibility, it's not as if Hextall hired Berube. He may decide to go a different route even if they turn things around.

Trouble There is, the Flyers could use some defense help too
- Jsaquella

Yeah but they have stuff in the pipeline. Edmonton needs more immidiate help. They have been terrible long enough and need to start moving forward before all those forwards are older. My thinking was more future.

True, it's a fair point, but I think that if he took more shots, the confidence would return and the balls would drop

Please tell me that we aren't going to spend all day discussing Voracek's testicles.

Hartnell didn't score a point till his 10th game last year, and he was playing on the top line. It's a little early to panic about Umberger. At the very worst he's a cheap buyout next summer or the one after.
- Feanor

I wouldn't characterize it as "cheap," but he's certainly a good candidate.

“He’s done some good things and also some things where he has to get out of his game because he’s in that [fourth-line] role,” Berube said. “He tends to turn the puck over in wrong areas and make some soft plays at times, but also he’s done some good things. He’s been gritty and taken the body at times and played a hard game, so he’s capable of doing it. It’s just the consistency level.”

The coach was not inclined to move Akeson up in the lineup, saying Akeson needs to finds his niche on the fourth line "and make it work."

Here = Philly, yup.

Flyers centers go to other teams and turn into great wings (Carter, Sharp). No reason BSchenn can't do it here.

Agreed. I'd like to see more consistent jump out of him, but the skill is there to be a 20-25 goal scoring winger
