I tend to agree. We need accountability. You can only fire so many coaches and GM's and bring in so many supporting players. At some point that core 4 or 5 need to be held accountable.

We have a LW-C-RW and a D that are always considered our main core pieces. All of which are considered to be top end players by management. If they are considered this then why the heck aren't they taking this team on their backs and getting them out of the lotto.

The work ethic is what bothers me the most

- Lahey

yeah three of those four guys are not ready/capable of putting the team on their backs. Hall certainly is.

If we put Petry, Eberle, anyone in OKC and a 2016 1st on the table and we set as our objective getting a great 3C and top pairing dman, does that get it done?

He's got this season and next then he's a free agent. Think he's going to get a raise from the $4mil he earns now if he tests the market?
- bloatedmosquito

I've never bothered to look...that's what he gets paid!!?

We got nikitin at 4.5 and Schultz wants 6+!
Neither of them can hold giordano's jock

Bingo. There isn't any, at all. I don't have some big solution to save the Oilers cause it's a huge cluster (frank). But I starts with one of the big pieces, and probably doesn't end there.

And for the love of god get Nurse and Draisatl out of there as soon as you can.

I think it's a little deeper than just shuffling a few pieces around. Gotta change the culture somehow. It's not going to be easy.

I know I always tease you about corsi and poop Morris, but to me exactly why I hate advanced stats. It's all about chemistry, attitude, accountability etc.

Oh man, if I was MacT and Justin's agent asked for $6mil+ I would trade his ass to Buffalo just to (frank) his career up. That's ridiculous.

I don't know what gets it done or what the costs would be, but we have assets. Year after year teams inquire about certain guys and then years after year we have prospects being busts. At some point we need to start trading maybes for sure things. Damn near time to stop holding onto everything and hoping everything works out.

Clearly we need a true top pairing d-man. Don't see anyone in the system being that good anytime soon, so make a deal.

You shuffle a big piece like Eberle and things should change. You'd be bringing a game changer in. Plus it puts people on notice, not that anyone really should be scared to be dealt.

yeah, but the oilers are generally terrible in advanced stats. so they're not really an argument there.

I'm not a huge advanced stats guy, but I assume even Travis Yost knows that teams full of players that give 100% and work well together will be good at keeping the puck.

Can you give me an example of a team that has bad chemistry, attitude and accountability that are Corsi darlings? I guess what I'm saying is that statistics in general are descriptive, not prescriptive.

Yeah I think it could do a lot to change the culture. I also feel like we've got an organizational need for a top pairing dman, period.

Let's put names on it: we're willing to trade Eberle, Petry, and all manner of picks and prospects including a 1st in 2016). We want Dubinsky and Wiesnewski from Columbus. Huge hypothetical that we get it done, but in my mind there's no way that doesn't significantly change - improve - the culture.

True. I also feel like maybe we missed our chance at trading Petry to the Isles, if they were interested in trading him.

If we end up with a McDavid pick, this could be the year to trade it.

If people are offering a Lindros price for the right to draft McDavid, I sincerely feel like that could be a package of greater benefit to the Oil than McDavid.

If the Oil have the chance to pick McDavid then Daryl Katz won't allow that pick to get trade it.

Katz in a different way did the same wih Yakupov so yeah if the Oil have the pick to get McDavid he's not going to allow MacT to trade that pick.
