Exactly. Spoken like a true fan.

Well to be honest- I thought Nuge was smarter than that... WTF are you doing fighting a vet dman when you have the body of a 15yr old (yes he gained some weight and lost the 12 yr old body)... Cause of this- the bandaide is injured again- its nice to stand up for yourself but what is the purpose- your paid to score (frank)ing goals and win faceoffs and all that other poop... Let the players on the team hired to provide grit do so... We now have .75 of a NHL centerman in gordon... I said last night we would be fuct and now with this- we are completely done without a major trade happening...

I'd prefer to look at swapping Ebs, Petry and the '16 first for Brouwer & Carlson.
Alternative, if the Ducks are looking at Petry, then him & a 3rd for Smith-Pelley.

- haymac

That's fuking steep.
Is Carlson so much better than petry that we need to add in a first AND Eberle in exchange for Troy Brouwer to offset value???

Doubt Washington wants more snipe talent. They've had lots of it for years and couldn't get it done.
I'd make that Anaheim trade. Be surprised if they did tho

I just don't get why management hasn't brought in more leadership talent. I appreciate FA's you have brought in, but none of them are true top line or top pairing guys, who also show leadership.

I also thought you were crazy going into the season with two goalies that hadn't ever played more than 20 games each per year. Fasth and Scrivens are good goalies, but they are unproven and not guaranteed starters. Why MacT didn't sign a Miller, Hiller or trade for Halak or someone is crazy.

He should be held responsible for that.

- moondawg

I would have preferred Spezza- considering what he went for...

1. Where are these mythical top guys in free agency?
2. Goaltending was above average from them last year with that garbage defense so there was no reason to believe it would be good with what should of been a better defense

Yep... Other teams have sucked harder, longer then us.... They don't catch nearly as much crap.
- HouseArrest187

True, but those teams didn't have the stockpile of talent that Edmonton has now. IMO the oil shouldn't be in this perpetual cycle of underachievement. A few good trades and off season signing could have changed the complexion of this team greatly.

It's almost if management is purposely ignoring the obvious. And those missing pieces wouldn't be hard to find.

Exactly, spread the talent out, not as much pressure on that top line. Add size and strength. Makes sense to me.

Do you really want me to go over the last 3 years, and show you who you could have signed?

Ok, I'm fine with you sticking with the young guys in net, good luck.

Stars won't sign here. And we're at the top of many ntc's. This is always forgotten when this suggestion is made.
Which superstar did Mact choose not to attempt to sign? He tries to fill holes with the best secondary help he can. And has to overpay for them

Miller put us at the top of his no trade list. So why would he then sign here? Plus, he ain't the answer behind our defence. He didn't look better than Fasth at all the other night. Worse IMO.
Hiller lost his spot to Fasth at one point in Anaheim. He's not head and shoulders better. He's nit even head and shoulders better than kari ramo on his own team.
Halak was average behind one of the best teams in the league. They traded for someone to take his place!

These easy solutions are easy for a reason. Cause they ain't solutions

To the contrary... And I'm starting to beleave it.... Cause it s been pointed out sooooo many times.... No one wants to come to edmonton buy choice... We had a few big names sign here out of there own free will, just to ask out in a year or two... Pronger came here buy choice.... One of the best at the time... That lasted a year. I love Edmonton, my fav city in canada. I don't care what anyone says. But it's also the furthest northern city in North America.... Just think about that.... The climate is obviously gonna suck... The only place worse is Winnipeg.

We are all aware of the problem Edm has signing free agents. But not to use some of those high 2nd and 3rd round picks this team has had over the years to get proven, experienced, roll players is beyond me.

With the sheer amount of young talent already on the team and in the system, what the (frank) does MacT need with these picks? We are all aware that the likelihood of a 2nd/3rd rounder making the NHL is rare. Very low percentage. Overpay and get the talent you need now. Don't worry about 4 to 5 years down the road.

Fans deserve better.

Huh?

A stud dman to eat big minutes and a quality 2c. Both proven winners, with size and can play defence that are also available, aren't hard to find?

Point them out. I'll call them now

not you... No one listens to you... jkjk. No but I hate the face that people come on here all like "Lolz your team sucks" but that's all they have to say... Especially when there team haven't won a cup in longer then we have... If your a kings fan, chi fan, boston fan.... Ya I get it... You got a solid foundation to work with... But it took HOW MANY YEARS TO GET IT... 10, 20, 30?????? Come on.
- HouseArrest187

Haha I hear ya!!!! (frank), it's frustrating, trust me I know.

I was actually at the game last night, I can honestly tell you I felt horrible for the Oilers fans that were there.

Paul Martin (Pitt) for Jordan Eberle

We get a top pairing D, They get a winger for Sid. Salaries aren't too far off either.

I can deal with that at any time having McDavid as the Oil 1C
- AlEx_OiL

If we got McDavid i would suggest we trade the Nuge. I love him but he'd bring us the defenseman we need in a trade
