yeah, but the oilers are generally terrible in advanced stats. so they're not really an argument there.

I'm not a huge advanced stats guy, but I assume even Travis Yost knows that teams full of players that give 100% and work well together will be good at keeping the puck.

Can you give me an example of a team that has bad chemistry, attitude and accountability that are Corsi darlings? I guess what I'm saying is that statistics in general are descriptive, not prescriptive.

- Morris

I don't think ud find one. And as u say, they probably go hand in hand. But it seems as though he might be suggesting that looking at advanced stats has to be totally secondary when we're gauging who to make a move for.

Is he a winner?
What's his work ethic like?
Is this guy gonna make an impact every night?

It scares the sh1t outta me to think we'd deal a star 65 point snipe for a 50 pt grinder. But is said grinder still battling, forechecking and making life miserable even when we're up by 3?
Is he goin to spear his grandma to get the puck even when we're down by 4?

I love Ebs, and I wouldn't trade that kind of talent lightly. But he's a skill player that is invisible for much of the night. Even when he does get on the board. It's just his game.

Those qualities I mentioned are pretty much the antithesis of him. I don't even mean that as a slight to him. It just is what it is. Maybe his style isn't what this team needs right now.

Funny part is though ; if we did get to that next level, his skill set/game is exactly the type we'd be looking for to get to the NEXT level

Fair enough, but for 1 year it's steep.

I don't think I really got my point across haha.

Take Fayne for example. Good advanced stats for the Devils last year, and everyone swooned over the signed and loved it. But you put him in a poopty situation on a team with bad chemistry/attitude/work ethic and it all goes to hell.

But I get what you are trying to say, which is kind of why I don't really like advanced stats in the first place.

3 games into the season and now the answer to the woes is... drafting 1st overall

Not just that, but you get to let RNH play in his rightful role as a 2C (ouch for a 1st overall pick), and let the youngster Draisatl develop in the shelter of 3C by instantly anointing an 18 year old as the 1C.

Yeah I think it could do a lot to change the culture. I also feel like we've got an organizational need for a top pairing dman, period.

Let's put names on it: we're willing to trade Eberle, Petry, and all manner of picks and prospects including a 1st in 2016). We want Dubinsky and Wiesnewski from Columbus. Huge hypothetical that we get it done, but in my mind there's no way that doesn't significantly change - improve - the culture.

Yep... Other teams have sucked harder, longer then us.... They don't catch nearly as much crap.
