I'm going to jump on the Talbot bandwagon. I think the guy will bounce back and be a very serviceable NHL goaltender.
He makes a lot of saves look easy because he is very strong positionally and never out of place. That said, he isn't as athletic as Hank and hasn't demonstrated that pure 'edge' that the really elite guys seem to have. As such, when the team in front of him plays like a bunch of monkeys fracking a football his positioning won't be enough to steal games. Without that 'edge' factor I don't see him being able to singlehandedly turn the tide of games or recover mid game from a mediocre start. When he's off, he will be off. It also doesn't help that teams will have had an entire season to scout him and shooters will have seen him a few times.
I pencil him for a .915-.920 save pct. on the year which is nothing to complain about.

I thought Talbot looked weak in the pre-season, so personally I was already worried about him going into this season.
FYI, Brandon Halverson is 6-0 with a 2.33 GAA in juniors so far this year

it never made sense for them to draft Yakupov. They should have traded that pick for multiple assets. They have already thrown this latest 18 year old into the mix, Draisaitl, who clearly isn't ready and should be sent back to juniors after 9 games.
They repeatedly throw these young kids millions and millions of dollars while they are still teenagers and throw them into the lineup with no solid veteran leadership. It's never going to work. They'll be drafting in the top 5 for the next 50 years. - jimbro83
They should have drafted Galchenyuck or Murray. |

Carolina will also no dress both Staals, Sekera and Skinner due to injuries. Ward is getting a rest. If the Rangers don't win tonight, they deserve the criticism. |

I always figured that movie Contagion was based on a true story. Just took a couple of years for the story to show up. |

So we are playing a team depleted by injuries with their back up goalie. 5-2 Carolina |

We'll see about that. I am not going negative here but this team needs to show us that they can hold it together when something doesn't go their way. These last two games they folded, like a bad hand, after they faced a little adversity. |

I've realized I've been taking that disease a little bit too lightly. When you see the news that aid resources are beginning to run out, and we might be losing the battle, it gets you thinking...
So many crazy things happening in the world right now. And here we are, talking about hockey, in bad times as well as in good times. All these ''trivial'' things just keeps going no matter the situation.

The Rangers should sign Sami Salo. He's unrestricted and he's played for A.V. in the past. He's got a booming shot, could help on the PP and he's good defensively. I know they want to keep some cap space available for a center for a trade and the top D-Man have to be more consistent, but this is a priority because defensemen get hurt. |

Why hasn't any other team signed him then? |

Cause he's 40, recovering from wrist surgery. Don't need any more plugs on the back end. Kostka and Hunwick are enough. |

That was kind of my point. There has to be legit reasons why he wasn't signed yet if he brings all of that to the table |

Jimbo's favorite.. haha
If Hamrlik brought peace to the middle east, and cured genital herpes, Jimbo would still hate him.. |

Definitely some risks with signing Salo. A couple of years ago, he was constantly hurt, but, he missed very few games last season. When he plays, he's a legitimate top 4 D-man. Can we sign him to a try-out if his wrist is healed? |

Meh...let reserve judgement on 'must wins' until the team is fully healthy. Now if you want to say they need to play better I think we can all agree on that. It will turn for this team. |
