What's the point of keeping Duclair if he continues to play with whoever centers the 4th line and Glass? Also how does this experience do him any good if he's not getting power play time and limited play time in the 3rd period? Just send him back.
Edit: Moments after I ask these rhetorical questions....

#NYR practice lines today: Zuccarello-Brassard-St. Louis Kreider-Hayes-Nash Hagelin-DMoore-Stempniak Glass-Mueller-Malone. Duke an extra
So now he's not even getting a regular shift at practice. Send him back. Bring him back next year when there is a spot for him. - tomburton99
He'll be a scratch for a couple of games and then get back into the lineup probably. What's the point of keeping him? The point is if we keep him, we can use him when we want. If we don't keep him, he's gone for 1 entire year. |

Sometimes the things AV does baffle me. I don't see what duclair did or didn't do to warrant losing playing time. Also, how in anyone's eyes does Mueller give you a better chance to win than miller? - mjh609
While we see the nifty saucer pass the Duclair makes or the slick stick handle move to gain the zone, AV sees him losing board battles or out of position defensively. It's like when we used to rip on Torts for benching Kreider and then the MSG broadcast shows a replay where Kreider hops off he bench and races to the other side of the ice for no reason leaving the opposing player he was supposed to cover wide open and in on a breakaway. We just don't notice this poop like coaches do.
I love Duclair but I do think he was pretty invisible that Canes game even when he was getting PP time and playing with Nash and MSL in the first 2 periods both offensively and defensively. |

Curious to see jimbos thoughts on brooks suggesting miller could be used to aquire staal. I don't want to bring this poop storm up again but if brooks is talking about it, its at least plausible and has probably been discussed.
Disclaimer: I am not in favor or against such deal. Just thought it was interesting - mjh609
I don't have anything against the thought of acquiring Eric Staal, but just as somebody who looks at our cap situation obsessively, I have no understanding how it's possible we add a player with an 8.25 million cap hit this year and next into this mix.
I can definitely see Miller as part of a trade, but any player with a big contract looks impossible. |

I think that's kind of what I would regret most about not having Duclair until next year. Come February and March when this team needs a shot in the arm he'll be playing in Quebec under another team's control.
I still would rather have him here then go back there. |

If Duclair is back in Quebec in March our shot in the arm will be some Russian kid named Buchnevich.
But I agree in all seriousness. The kid sitting a couple games won't ruin his development. He deserves to sit a couple games but also deserves to play a few more after that. |

Plus it can't hurt to see what Chris Mueller can bring to the lineup. Stepan will be back in about 5 games or so. Gives the organization a chance to see who should stay when he gets back. |

It makes no sense to keep if he's going to "get lost in thd shuffle." He didn't get a regular shift in practice today and will be a healthy scratch tomorrow. That makes no sense I'd rather see him get 25 minutes a night in Quebec, play in the Memorial Cup and have good shot at making Canada's WJC roster. What I don't want see is him be a healthy scratch for Malone. The only time Malone was noticeable in a good way against Carolina is in front of the net on the power play. Other than that he was losing races and didn't do much of anything else. |

I hope the kid can step up and stick with that line. Hopefully that line is playing well enough when step comes back AV keeps them together. Make a second line of MSL-Step-X. 3rd line of Zucc-Brass-X. |

If AV doesn't plan on playing him in any game for the rest of the season then obviously they'd send him down...if they're keeping him that means they expect him to get back into the lineup in 2 or 3 games. Again, sitting a few games isn't going to kill this kid's development. |

“Basically I put it this way: ‘As long as you prove that you can plan in our top nine, then you’re going to stick with us. It doesn’t mean he’s going to play every game but, when he plays, he has to play in our top nine forwards.”
That was AV's exact quote after Duclair made the team. He was going to sit at some point lol |

I'm not freaking out. It's just that Duclair was good enough to start a fan on a line with MSL and Nash but finished it one the bench next to Glass. How did that happen in span of 40 minutes? I'd rather see Duclair in the top 9 over Malone, ands of the week. |

It happened because we were down 1 goal with 20 minutes left in a game that many considered a must-win so AV went with veterans he trusted...and it paid off, no? |

In that game though, Duclair like a lot of other players were not very good. Down in the 3rd, AV had to shorten the bench to try and win the game. Duclair, Glass, and Malone were the 3 who saw very little ice in the 3rd. Coming off a bad game with a big and tough sharks team coming in, this is a good game to let Duclair watch I feel. Malone physical presence may be needed. |

A team filed a complaint with the NHL last season accusing the Rangers of cap circumvention after Marty Biron retired rather than accept a demotion to the AHL. (NY Post)
Shortly after Biron retired he joined TSN, RDS and MSG Network. Biron has not been announced as part of Rangers coverage on MSG this season. (NY Post)
Biron retired in October but was not placed on unconditional waivers, to terminate his contract, until January.
He started working on Rangers broadcasts in November.
Biron had a cap hit of $1.3 million last season.
WTF? Where are the filed complaints against Philly and Boston with Pronger and Savard? |

Happened because AV gave up on MSL down the middle, Duclair was an unfortunate victim but I agree if he can play better than guys like Malone thn he should be in, I'll. take notice of that if we continue to play poorly and it's game 15-20, right now he'll be just fine |

I think Savard is a scout now in the OHL or QMJHL, not sure which. But a least he's out of the league. The fact that Pronger works for the league but is played by the flyers is a joke. |
