Fowler, Markov, Demers, E Johnson

If you don't mind the terrible +/- Campbell will likely have, I'd drop Demers for him.

Oh goody, Gagne redux.

Guy was a very good player and a class act. It's good that he's doing well. It would have been swell if Holmgren brought him back in some capacity-and we only have one side of that story, so we can't just call Holmgren an ass-and he'd probably be a better fit than Umberger, as far as that goes.

But he's not here. Let's let it go.

True, but we have plenty of dead horses to beat on the roster

Hell, I'd rather have Gagne than Umberger.

I'm watching the Coyotes/Oilers game and wondering how long it's gonna take to reach the over.

All we have is what Gagne said. Holmgren's never publicly commented on it. But we do know that Gagne's agent has a history of being a difficult guy to deal with-when Gagne was younger, he'd routinely be unsigned into late July or early August because his agent played hardball every summer when it came time to do a new deal.

All we have is Gagne's side of things. He says he wanted a two year deal, but would have taken one. But maybe that stance changed after Holmgren had committed assets elsewhere.

Yep. Homer called him and said that he hated Gagne and he was glad that Simon missed a season, because he's a wussy

Explain your way out of numerous reports of a loyal player being under the impression he'd be resigned and then having the guy wait all summer to be sign. All to the point where he's having his agent turn away other possible offers.

Please, I've gotta here this.

Why wouldn't Homer comment on it? Why would the class act lie?

Teemu Selanne is also a class act but this doesn't stop him from bashing Bruce Boudreau. What's Bruce Boudreau side? Don't care, because Teemu Selanne is a class act.

Homer had the call on speaker, and every time he said 'Simon', Clarke and Snider would yell 'SUCKS!' in the background.

I'd love to pick their pockets for a few guys and run. The trouble is, they really overvalue their guys. I mean, we as a fanbase have a habit of turning Bad Company into Zeppelin in terms of overrating our guys, but the Oilers often turn the Bay City Rollers into the Rolling Stones

Why would Holmgren publicly discuss negotiations? What purpose would it serve? If one side or the other was being a hard ass in talks, it would only serve to paint a negative picture. Gagne and his agent have a long history of being difficult negotiators. That's why I say we only have one side.

And yeah, I care about Boudreau's side, because class act Teemu seems a like a petty jackass calling him out the way he did. Kind of funny that the guys you're calling class acts are the ones airing dirty linen in public.

I don't think you understand the expression "One side of the story."

Just because that's how Gagne said it happened, doesn't mean it did. It very well could have but we don't know. And until Homer decides to comment on the situation (which he probably never will) it's all just speculation as to what actually happened between the two camps.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Gagne on the team still. Especially over Umberger. But I'm not going to bash Homer over something I don't know enough about. There's plenty of other reasons to be pissed at Homer.

Some of the rumored demands for guys like Eberle were like they had a Crosby waiting to be plucked

Holmgren doesn't have to discussion negotiations. He could simply say that he didn't see a fit with Gagne here and we wish him well. Instead from my understanding, nothing was said.

How did Hextall handle Hartnell last summer? He discussed his side in detail and Hartnell gave a little of his point of view as well. To me, if you have to keep quiet, you've got something to hide.

I'll admit Selanne handled things with Boudreau bad, but I'm not exactly seeing an open door policythere.
