I would like to see akeson give it a go.
- dillpx183

Akeson couldn't score on Hextall's kid in practice.... or hmmm... maybe he was doing that on purpose so he wouldn't get sent down.

As long as it's a thing it wouldn't hurt to get a guy besides G that can deke a puck.
- hereticpride

sadly you do need to take this into consideration when building a roster. A game built on depth, stamina and excellence shouldn't be determined by a teams elite players. Could you imagine after 10 innings in baseball using a HR derby, or in basketball after one OT using a 3 pt or foul shooting contest? It's asanine!

Is this an acceptable time to point out that we have the same number of points as the Rangers?
- Doc_Sarcasm

sure.

I might have to check out the Rangers board to see if they're female doging as much as us.

Yeah, they stabilized in the 2nd... Jake heard the visor comments and flipped on beast mode in the 3rd.... so close.
- Tomahawk

Yea. Stabalized against an opponent on a back to back on the road late in the game

Small victories I guess

I would've given Akeson a shot.

Or sent Raffl out there and told him to aim 12ft to the left.

- hereticpride

OK, that has me LOL

They gave up 4 third period goals to the Islanders, none of which were empty netters.

Barely get to see him at all... Chief won't let him off the 4th-line, won't put him on the PP, won't use him in the SO.

I know everyone is looking for sympathy after dealing with the shootout but the team has to practice it. Make everyone take a shot after every practice for all I care. Personally I thought it was lazy of Berube to send Couturier out there. I've seen zero signs that he's any good at it. Try Bellemare for god sakes. Something you haven't seen before.

On the flip side, I thought we played well outside of the first period and the fact they stopped playing with seconds left in the second. Props to Berube for switching up the D pair. Streit and Schultz looked good. MacDonald and Grossmann looked good too.

well i'll tell you that a guy walking in like that, with all day to make a move given there's no pressure behind him, can snipe a corner or pick a spot more often than not. the release is extremely quick, the shot's quick. they make it look easy, and make the goalie look bad.

Gotta have coots in the shootout for what reason?
- FlyerLifer

Why not use someone who never scored more than 13 goals in any of the three years he's been here as one of your top three?

yeah, IF he's gonna be in the lineup then it's ridiculous to keep him on the 4th line, or not in other situations where he might be of use.

I never complain about goals our goalie let up; it's hard. I wish our guys scored more of them

With so many other things to work on, the shootout seems superfluous. Maybe if we fix the other stuff we won't need to be good at shootouts.

didn't they start practicing the shootout this year, for the 1st time ... ever?

I thought I read a story to that effect.

cant be worse then status quo.

what gets me is most the time when they all shoot, they all try the same shot. jake tried 5 hole so read shot there too. wonder if they ever youtube shootouts to learn new moves. bring in Foppa as assistant coach for SOs
