Did I say they weren't?? I love Rielly, think he's going to have an amazing career and get much better in his own end. Gardiner has shown flashes of great offensive potential but has always been brutal in his own end. You can't deny the fact that they are both defenceman who are not that great in their own end.

Leaf fans seem to have a problem understanding that Gardiner and Rielly are 2 DEFENCEman who are not very good at defence. Talented offensively? Certainly. Not good in their own end, especially Gardiner.

Hell, he may of had a minor tweak injury they weren't publicizing. Gaining perspective, or maybe just to show him he doesn't have a free spot just because of a contract.

So depending if he gets 13 mins a night against 4th lines or 17 mins a night against second lines? If we need the former, gardiner can handle that just fine. If we need the latter, Rielly ((frank) me, even Percy) could do a better job than him.

Yeah he's pretty bad defensively, but helps the powerplay and proved to be useful in sheltered minutes a couple seasons ago. But I agree with you I wouldn't be sad to see him go.
