Mike Green wasn't a minus player, in fact he was out shattering records once. Doesn't mean he wasn't horrendous defensively. If he can develop into a Keith Yandle guy, excellent PP player, average defensively, has problems with sustained pressure and needs a defensive partner to help him, I would be cool with that. Hasn't shown he can do that though sustainably. - AdamFrench
Well the difference with Mike Green is that he was scoring 30 goals and 70 points at one time but he got hurt a bunch of times and isn't scoring anymore so the reward doesn't match the risk. If he was still scoring like a machine, he'd be right there with Karlsson and Subban, both of which are high risk, high reward type players.
Gardiner probably isn't going to score at that clip but his mistakes aren't happening every shift either nor should he be playing 1st pairing minutes either. He can skate and pass which is a lot more than most guys playing defense on the team can say. Better than Robidas. |

That's fine.. But sooner or later they'll regret keeping him out of the lineup. |

I would be fine with Gardiner sucking balls in his own end and being weaker than a bottle of Cracked Canoe if he actually was very good offensively. - AdamFrench
For as much as people make him out to be offensively gift led you d think he put up really big numbers. |

No.
They finally lost, which is a very good thing.
I don't think they deserved a single win so far this season, that'll bring them back to earth. |

Sounds like the Leafs last year. Had a good start but didn't play well in any of the games |
