The Leafs need to trade Gardiner for his own good. Where does he fit? It appears that he isnt going to get the chance to develop properly in Toronto, so why hang onto him? Its not like his stock is going to increase as he sits in the pressbox, and before his confidence has been completely dismantled, trade him for another asset that better suits the direction of the team.

You're overreacting, its been 3 games but I do agree that he hasn't exactly been a perfect fit in his time here. The problem is that with Rielly here(who is going to have a way better career than Gardiner), it's hard for a bad defensive team like Toronto to constantly play 2 d men in the lineup who aren't good in their own end. (Gardiner and Rielly).

Yes I know, but, how long has he been trying to crack the lineup? With the emergence of Percy, where does he fit? How do you expect to develop a kid who is being shuffled in and out of the lineup.

I think he tried cracking the lineup 2 season ago. And, 2 seasons ago he cracked the lineup.

Except that he's not being shuffled in and out of the lineup.

In and out of the lineup?? He was scratched ONE game. he was out all of 2 games last year (both from concussion).

How is he in and out of the lineup?

Well with robidas / polak being long term solutions it obviously makes sense to trade young, developing top 4 d-men.

He sat out one game...three games into the season. Also he has been a constant in trade discussions/rumors, at which point is he supposed to feel like a wanted player on the roster? Why sit him? Why not sit Percy?

Night and day with this season's Rielly and last, isn't it? I dig it. It's like this year he's got no voice in his head telling him to "don't lose the puck, don't lose the puck, don't lose the puck" when he's taking off.

I'm not a massive fan of gards, but I think the skill is there, decision making needs work. That can be taught.

I think the part where the Leafs committed to pay him millions of dollars for the next five years might help him feel wanted.

Leaf fans seem to have a problem understanding that Gardiner and Rielly are 2 DEFENCEman who are not very good at defence. Talented offensively? Certainly. Not good in their own end, especially Gardiner.

Any of you guys know a place online that I can get a dirt cheap, plain white with navy pinstripes baseball jersey? I'm having a hard time on ebay and nothing on kijijii. Or if anybody has a mens L/xl for sale on here?

Good point, why not sit out one of those guys instead or do they need the ice timebfor their development?

Read my other posts, multiple reasons to sit a guy, not all of them negative.

Hell, he may of had a minor tweak injury they weren't publicizing. Gaining perspective, or maybe just to show him he doesn't have a free spot just because of a contract.

Doesn't mean the leafs should say oh (frank) it I give up on this kid
