The only way the Flyers should bring in Myers imo is if they realistically think they can find a taker for one of Streit or Macdonald.

If not that's going to be essentially a risky 15+ million dollars tied to 3 guys.

If the team still had Timonen, someone who could mentor Myers and give him some stability I'd be all in, but I don't see the kid having any easier of a path settling into his potential here than in Buffalo.

Stay the course. Ek is just trying to stir up something because the team has poop their pants coming out the gate.

i have to imagine the price for myers is still pretty high.

if streit only had this year and next on his deal i think he would have great value at the deadline. that extra year is a killer imo. though he is playing pretty much as expected so maybe a team takes him on.

mac is a bad contract and i have to believe that hextall had a big hand in giving that deal out.

I would not move MacDonald to add Myers. The only reason I would move Streit is because of his age.

MacDonald is not a bad contract. If he keeps playing as well as he has, it's a good contract.

I have doubt about the report. The last thing they need is another inconsistent, highly compensated defenseman.

Also, if anyone saw the Sabres game today, Myers looked horrible. Might just be mailing it in as the Sabres Collapse For Connor, but holy moly.

The Devils game was just mistakes made. I can tolerate that for a short period of time, as it's some that can be fixed. But I can't tolerate efforts like the 3rd period of the last game. That was standing around and looking a deer in headlights. I'm tired of seeing that kind of crap.

I've never been crazy about Myers. IMO our assets could be much better utilized.

I like Tyler Myers and I'd happily take him if the trade partner is being reasonable within the trade. Myers has aspects of his game he still needs to work on himself. A roster player, a high draft pick and a prospect seems about right for now.

Myers would have really benefitted playing with a guy like Timonen for the early part of his career much like Coburn was able to. Flyers need d-men who can help solidify a pairing, instead of having to be hid or carried themselves.

The FA corps for d-men next summer blows. Everyone on the wrong side of 31 except for Marc Staal. The aging guys will want one last big contract to get paid and wont live up to it.

As much as I'd love Giordano the only real half ass quality guy I could see being moved is Bogosian. The injury history is worrisome there however.

Staying competitive at all cost is a fools game and leads to exactly the "direction" we are in now.

Bogo is a guy who I like. The injuries though make it very hard to judge his value.

Not even getting into the cost to acquire, which still seems to be pretty expensive, if the Detroit newspaper report is true about the Sabres demanding Mantha

No reason? How about the Flyers think he is a good defenseman who is going to continue to get better. And if they signed to a shorter deal, and he continues to get better, then the cost to re-sign goes up even higher. MacDonald is a pretty good defenseman. And as the price for available quality defenseman goes up, due to the scarcity and availability of quality defenseman. The deal is going to get cheaper and cheaper. As with any player, he has to continue to play well long term over the life of the deal. I have no reason to think that he won't. So you can state that there was no reason, but that's just not true.
