From a Flyers perspective I would just stand pat and be patient until Morin comes up. They way things are going, that may be sooner than later.

Tyler Myers is f*cking terrible. I pray there is nothing to this as Ek's rumors usually go.

so rangers make it to the final last year and get destroyed by the leafs last night. and people laugh when i consider them a top contender in the east
- sensnucksnocups

Yes, people laugh when you say Toronto is a top contender I the east. They also laugh when you try and justify your argument after the 3rd game of the year, especially after just getting your ass handed to you the previous game

Anaheim is a good trade partner. We have a need and assets. Gibson, Lindholm, ritchie are the youngsters off limits; probably Fowler too. So with that in mind, and no super-star (Getzlaf, Perry, Kessler) who does buffalo want?

I'm thinking its a Vatenen, and one of Etem, Smith-Pelley, karlsson

Could this deal get done with no picks?

Really paid attention to him today and he did nothing. Just floated around all game. Maybe he heard the rumors and doesn't want to play in Anahem and tanked it. I know that's a ridiculous statement but he was truly awful today.

No, for some reason they want the team's top prospects
for "someone they don't have to trade".
Well, guess what, they are going to indeed keep him, if the asking price doesn't go down.
You'd think we are talking Weber or Doughty.

What do you think happens in the real world? You get bonafide NHL players for mediocre prospects and a token 2nd rounder?

It's a 24 year old 6'8 two way defensemen. Not your average available player

thing is, buffalo is going to finish near or at the bottom of the league this year. They don't have to do anything. Detroit, Philly, any team that needs to solidify their defense that comes calling is in a weaker position and should have to overpay to get an asset that buffalo has no reason to move.

Myers is NOT elite, and may never grow to be elite.
It's a risk to acquire him for the asking price,
Hence you will be keeping him to yourselves.

and since buffalo is going to finish near last this year, I don't think they mind at all.

There is no reason to overpay when the prospects' pool has at least equal pieces.
If he was a hot commodity, he'd be traded already.

He is a hot commodity, but the Sabres have no reason to trade him. He's signed long term and he's young.

Neither is Anthony Mantha. You know because he's yet to play an NHL game.

why? why does buffalo have to move him?

it's fine for you to say your prospect pool has what your team needs, but the whole point in buffalo moving myers would be to get whatever they can from a team that is looking to add to their defense right now, not a year or two from now.

If I'm the sabres, and have an asset that is young, signed long term, larger than 99% of the other players in the league and plays a position everyone seems to be looking for, I dangle him and wait to see if someone overpays. I'm not looking for fair market value, I don't need to move him. a bubble team looking for help on defense who needs to make the playoffs is the one who's going to bite. It may not be right away, and buffalo's in no hurry. meanwhile the bubble team keeps playing games and losing as many as they win. which team can afford to sit and do nothing?

what does buffalo lose by having myers in the lineup next year? Not a damn thing.

Pass on Myers. If I'm the Flyers, I don't send numerous prospects to Buffalo for a guy's that hasn't played to potential as of now.

Apparently you have an extremely short memory.

How did last season end after you were almost assured a playoff spot?
