What about Ladd for both straight up?
- wilsonecho91

No, I'm not specifically trying to trade the Schenns. I'd be trying to add a more natural LW, who has Cup experience and free up some money. I'd also want to have a replacement for Luke.

How quickly the Schenns have become expendable. I don't do this trade. The solution is not to trade our youth. Period. Especially for an older player on a short term deal and a 5/6 25 year old with less upside then Luke. If that is all those guys bring back then no thanks.

That's fair, although Postma is pretty much on the same level as Luke, although less heralded. It's not really a deal to dump the Schenns. Just an idea born out of a twitter discussion with a Jet fan while watching the game.

You get older on the wing and a lesser replacement. I just don't see how that makes any sense. Even if you wanted to win now I think this is a bit of a wash. If you want to win in three years when the D prospects are contributing then you really lose this trade. If you are looking for a LW from the PEG then Kane needs to be the target as he is young and fits into the patience theme, just my 2 cents.

Edit: Of course, if you are in win now mode, then fixing the D needs to be the top priority. However, perhaps losing is truly winning. I'll chew on that idea for the remainder of the day.

I really like Ladd a lot. But it's a little tough to swallow losing a two guys who are 23 and almost 25 for a soon to be 29 year old who will be a FA at the same time Couts and Voracek need extensions.

That's the rub. I don't know that I would do it, just because of the age difference in Brayden and Ladd.

No, Ladd's still pretty effective.

Still don't see Postma as a lesser replacement. He's not an upgrade, but he's cheaper and a comparable level defender. Not the same kind of defenseman, but he's a 4/5 type guy as well.

I'm not sure I'd do it, either. More because fo the age difference between Brayden and Ladd than Luke being better than Postma

I'd agree, I was trying to think of a LW with cup experience that would be less than B.Schenn's cap.

Let's just do both Schenn's, Hagg, plus Morin's broken jaw for Trouba and call it a day.

I think the Flyers are fairly well pot committed with the Schenn boys at this point.

I'm not worried as much about the cap hit as I am the ability to fill a position and better the team

If it was available for real, I'd do it. I like B. Schenn, Hagg, and Morin. But if you can get Trouba, there's your top defender for the next 15 years.

Trouba is a beast. Definitely top pair material and potential elite defenseman

Me too. I was hoping it was just the jaw and we could keep the rest of Morin. But yeah, I would have to pull the trigger on that one due to our serious need in that department for the next three years.

Edit: I don't think it is a no-brainer as the sample size of Trouba's work is small. Potential is there though in the time period we need to compete with our forward group.

Ek's reporting that the Flyers are "keeping tabs" on Tyler Myers. He's an overpayment waiting to happen, IMO.

Depends on what they'd take in return. I would not include draft picks.

They'd have to move salary. Myers has a $5.5m cap hit through 2018-19

Schenns for Myers, maybe. That would work under the cap. And our first pairing from Saturday becomes our third pairing.
