I'm not sure Coburn would have really made A diffrence the past couple of games... plus, it's not like he had been playing particularly well before he got hurt.

I get the feeling that Hexy can't wait to tear this team apart when the handcuffs finally come off... and why would Ed Snider be calling for patience if they seriously felt this years team would be better than last? It's only year 2 of a five-year plan.

- Tomahawk

I hope that's the case. I understood the moves he made this past summer, but realized they'd need a lot of things to turn out right. I do wonder if he does anything if they're sitting a 4-10-1 after 15 games. I can live with a down year or two as long as there's a plan in place.

I should probably explain what I think Coburn would've done for the last two games that would help, even if he didn't play well: It's My Theory of Reverse Diminishing Returns.

I'd rather have Coburn, even if he's playing at 75 percent effectiveness, playing hard minutes in the defensive zone 100 percent of the time over Michael Del Zotto and Luke Schenn at 100 percent effectiveness.

Because I can at least pretend that one Grade-A scoring chance won't result. Even if one comes, I'd rather be surprised by it than expect it -- because when some guys are on the ice, I expect it.

All of that, imo, boils down to talent, and the Flyers lack a few high-end/elite pieces other teams possess.

Hockey sense is a talent. An underrated one. One of my best friends always likes to say "he's got a million-dollar body powered by a 10-cent brain."

Heart, skill and smarts. The Flyers got predictable, the Habs read what they were going to do,were aggressive enough to force a predictable behavior and ate the Flyers alive.
- Jsaquella

That they did. A couple times I wanted to let the Flyers know not every puck has to go along the boards or back behind the net before moving out of the zone, but I figured I'd be wasting my breath...

No doubt. Every great player has exceptional hockey sense...it's seeing the patterns, predicting the play...being in the zone.

And that's pretty wise for a 10-cent brain.

I don't even know, anymore.

I just want them to win. I love being a fan of this team, and I have had more fun watching them over the years than I have doing many other things.

Losing happens, and I'm not irrational -- no one wins all the time.

I still think it's early...Coburn's out...they have shown that they can play well against good teams. They deserved a better fate in Boston, and I don't know how in the (frank) you blow a 3-0 lead at home in the third period, but from what I've read, they looked pretty good in building that lead.

There's stuff to work with, with this team.

But I just want them to win, man. I'm getting old enough where moral victories aren't what they used to be.

Didn't expect them to win this game. Was happy they were looking like they would. But when you have this D Corps and this square peg/round hole
Mix of forwards, it's going to be a long year. Schultz out there with 2:30 left, are you kidding me? I heard there's a white sale a towel world.

Look, I posted this clip last night and I'll post it all F*CKIN' year long! All year long! ALL...YEAR...LONG!

Let me be the first say that Ray Emery was better then Steve Mason his first two starts of the season, which would make Mason only the SECOND BEST Flyer this season so far, even next to Simmonds who has 4 goals and an assist in three games on the season.

We played our best 40 minutes in the first two periods of this season and then we stopped playing. Not good enough! If you wanna complain about the shootout, that's fine. Call it what you will but it's part of the the game, get better at it! Practice it! Do not make up excuses for it because you shouldn't be have been in that situation to begin with it!

Everyone on this bored will have Laviolette's words memorized by season's end if they don't get it together! "Take your first shift, you'll get it, earn the second one!"

People don't get it! Laviolette got us to the Final his first try. He got us to the second round twice after that! Then missed the playoffs and was fired three games after finally being rid of Bryzgalov! John Stevens didn't wanna yell. Craig Berube doesn't wanna yell but Ken Hitchcock did and Peter Laviolette did. They have a ring each! I'm not asking for a new Coach but I am asking for a Coach to stay on these guys because I'm not seeing it! They think they've won before it's over, just to be embarrassed in their own building!

They should have won! No reason why they shouldn't have if you saw the first 40 minutes! They executed a game plan perfectly until they stopped giving it their all!

Simply giving away Lacavalier to get better, wasn't going to make us better. Simply trading everything Hartnell is, for what Harnell isn't, wasn't going to make us better.

I'll be more then willing to post this all year, because A drunken 3am "me" thinks this post is gold.

There is no reason why we couldn't have won this game. Emery was fantastic! He was perfect! He was exactly what we needed him to be!

3 games of MDZ is enough for me. He's hesitant, makes poor decisions with the puck, wilts under forecheck pressure and doesn't bring nearly enough offense to compensate for his lousy defensive game.

I don't want them to rush Ghost, so bring up Alt or Manning. I very much doubt either one would be worse defensively than MDZ

To be fair I thought Streit looked worse last night with his back passing to the Habs. I think this is going to get uglier before it gets better. I don't mind sucking this year, next year I would be pissed. Adding a top offensive prospect to this team would be gold. If the ultimate goal is to win the cup then tank nation is probalably a good idea. I'm not hoping the team loses but if we do, I hope it is grand. Razor looked great last night, it's a shame his team left him out to dry.

While they got off to an early lead, they still had huge periods of time where the Habs hemmed them in. I don't know if it was being out-classed by speed or just lack of "jam". Probably a combination of both. The uninspired play in the 3rd was inexcusable. We can't afford a lack of jam when we obviously have less talent on the backend. Shame on these guys.

LAck of 60 minute effort is in the players. This has been happening for years now, it is so damn frustrating. Up 3-0 in your own building and they can't nail it down, that is just sad.

Personally, I will not root for them to lose, I just can't make it happen. But here are my top five ways we could beat out BUF or FLD for top choice in this years draft:
1. G goes down for a extended period
2. Coburn is actually hurt more then expected
3. Mason goes down and Razor plays more like last year
4. Shultz continues to be a top pair D man for the team
5. The low confidence rolls out of control like last year
Extra 6. Hexy stays the course of patience and it is actually his plan all along- evil genius

Can you imagine a line up close to this:

unk-giroux-vor
unk-mcdavid-simmonds
read-schenn-unk
unk-laughton-rinaldo

morin-coby
ghost-mcdonald
haag-schenn

The unk's....well I dont know who will go in those positions. LOoking for a cleansingof contracts including pronger, kimmo, umberger, vinny, streit, gromman, MDZ . Every team needs a whipping boy or two so I kept schenn and mcdonald .
