I know we are all hoping he will turn into Chara, but Chara wasn't the player he is until he wound up on the Bruins and had he stayed in Ottawa, they'd still be without a Cup so if Detroit/Anaheim want Myers, let's absolutely molest them in a trade, if they don't bite, find another victim.

I don't agree with the notion that he has to be Chara or be traded.

Probably annoying to see me say it again but I think that's his plan. I don't think he's shopping him per se but I bet he's hoping a team gets desperate enough to overpay significantly. RHD seem to be a hot commodity these days so who knows.

The Ducks are my front runners and New Jersey's my sleeper as far as him being traded goes.

I think Reinhart can stay too. He's getting better almost each shift

Because he plays professional hockey and is a veteran and our supposed #1 D? What, you're happy that Weber has more leadership and satisfied that he has more than your 1st round pick, calder winning 6'8" Defensemen? He absolutely should be among the teams leaders. I'd be happy if he showed some heart but he never has and its infuriating that the biggest guy on the ice most nights is the most timid.

Sorry, I want leaders and heart, not 2-way defensemen and drifters.

Boucher, Severson, Larsson, Merrill, Santini are names that come to mind. If they're bat crap crazy desperate Henrique (though they'd probably need to find another #2C in a separate deal).

Simply pointing out that the only other guy in the league even close to the same height as Myers also plays the same position, shoots right handed as well and took about 5, 6 years to fully develop. So, naturally, I can and will compare the two until Myers shows he is a completely different type of player or an eerily similar one. Its like comparing, oh, idk, Crosby to Yzerman? Not that I think Crosby is amoung the same caliber but similar height, age when entering the league, young captains who were offensivley gifted and won stanley cups when young captains of their respective teams who needed to (and in Yzerman's case did) become solid defensively and all around great players in order to take the next step/win their second Stanley Cup as leaders/premier players in the league.

Not everyone in the NHL can be a leader. Why does weber have more leadership than Myers?

I don't care if he was a 1st overall or an undrafted schmuck from Southern Africa just like I don't care about his height, weight, past accolades, and marital status if he contributes to the team and can in the future I am good with it.

I am glad you want leaders. We all do but don't unrightfully label some random player as a leader just because of his draft position or past trophy.

If we trade Myers to the Ducks I want Devante Smith-Pelly and I would do it 1 for 1.

Not because i think he sucks or anything but because playing on this team will continue to deflate his value because of the impact it has on his offensive numbers. It's why so many people who don't watch him play believe he's significantly worse now than his calder year.

If he's not part of Murray's future (which may be unlikely but it is possible) than something around Henrique and 2015 1st will probably peak his interests.

But why would we trade Myers for that? We already have enough (better) prospects, don't need to trade our best, possible star, defenseman for more.

Then don't move him IMO. This isn't a deadline deal where you are moving him for spare parts. It has to be for a potential impact player.

I wouldn't move him either, I'm just trying to understand it from a POV that doesn't have him part of our future team.

I don't think too much of it now because his trade rumors have come from the same source each time (Dreger) who has been slipping in recent years. But if it gets some serious traction from more than one insider you have to wonder if Murray just doesn't see a fit.
