Looks painful! Hopefully you'll sober up enough to at least remember the game. - JimmyP
Home opener was great, blue blurs really seemed to do more than the white and red blurs |

If Conacher doesn't seem to be working on the top line after a fair shot, who should be next in line for he wing spot? - Stoops135
Lee, Bailey or Strome.
I actually like the Nelson is centering his own line. he is so good defensively and actually creates more scoring opportunities down the middle.

Rick ummmmm.... Can't seem to remember it! I can see him now... skating out to the face off circle to play the puck and throwing it right to the opposing team for an empty net goal... Oh, what's his name? - brodydog29

His idea of coaching would be doing his radio show from the bench, then putting himself in net at the first TV timeout |

That's all Dolan. It's borderline illegal. I know at one point verizon was looking to sue them over it - Vukota
I think that threat was what got us Verizon subscribers MSG + and MSG2. I think they created the MSG+2 channel after that. |

All I can say, with the opener less than 3 hours away, is this: this team is finally just about ready. It has the top-shelf defenseman it has been sorely lacking for the last three seasons (alright, 25 seasons...I'm speaking specifically to the time period where it would have been worthwhile to go get that player for this particular group), and we do not need to wait three MORE years for him to achieve that level. It has scoring depth (depth in general, up front), and defensive talent up front that it has not had in years. It likely has a better goaltender than it has had since the one year DiPietro was actually good (yes, there was one, until he decided to dive headfirst into a Montreal player's knee), and before that, likely since Kelly Hrudey. All of the pieces are in place, save someone to truly replace Vanek, which in the end may very well be Brock Nelson after all. It is good to go, and on paper is a playoff team, without a question in my mind.
From this point forward, I'm not guaranteeing that I'm not going to get totally pissed off and blow my stack, but I'm going to try and shut up about its one glaring weakness- all I ask of those who disagree is that all of you remember what has been said by all of us who have repeatedly pointed it out, should this group not perform as it is capable of performing. I'm going to try my best to let that individual crap the sheets on his own, without the need for me to point it out, starting at 7:08 PM this evening.
As for now, I'll just say one last thing about it- I listened to a soccer podcast this AM, in which one of the pundits pointed out the contrast between two EPL coaches, both of whom have had success...one who has a basic, rigid, structured system, and the other who has a general game plan, but lets players perform within that shape to the best of their abilities, basically on their own, essentially learning from the guy next to them. The only argument she made in regards to the latter is that in order for that plan to be successful, one must have a group of wholly top-end players, or else there's a good chance that it won't work. That's all my argument has ever been- Brian Strait is not Bobby Orr, and he will never be Bobby Orr. That's my problem, and I hope that it doesn't ruin what should otherwise be a memorable final season at the old barn. Until it does, I'm going to try to bite my lip. We shall see.

Good post, will be home about 15 mins before the game, enough time to grab a drink and program the light. I'd really like to see us come out with urgency. They'd better be pumped.

If we want to make playoffs, cappy has to trust his back up. Halak is not a goalie you want to overwork.
Johnson should play tonight and Halak tomorrow
Season opener.

if halak is breaking down after two games we've got issues. Last season he played 52 games and didn't get hurt, I'm not worried about it. Now if we go through a month and he's playing a pace for 70 games, I'll be worried. Not yet though. start the season with your best guy, we didn't sign him to sit him.

I'd like to see Johnson play around 25 games, putting Halak in for 55-60 games which I feel is a good number for a starting goalie when you have a capable backup. This way assuming we make the playoffs, Halak isn't burnt out. |

Yeah the rain won't stop the excitement, but I was hoping for a little sunshine for the final home opener and the old barn. Gates open at 12:30 I think. |
